Bill Clinton Supports Rescuing Schiavo
NewsMax ^ | 3/30/05 | Limbacher

While New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has virtually gone into hiding - as have many other Democrats - regarding whether or not Terri Schiavo should be starved to death, ex-President Bill Clinton was reportedly was "egging on" one of Hillary's colleagues to support federal intervention to rescue Schiavo.

Reports CBS's Dottie Lynch:

"[Sen. Tom Harkin] forged the coalition with Republicans Frist, Santorum, Martinez and, according to two sources, had the support of former President Clinton for his actions. While Mr. Clinton apparently didn't talk to Harkin until after the vote, one source described Mr. Clinton as 'egging him on.'"

It wouldn't be the first time Bill Clinton urged fellow Democrats to side with conservatives on traditional values issues.

During the presidential campaign, the triangulator-in-chief advised Sen. John Kerry to find a way to support at least a few of gay marriage bans that were on the ballot on eleven states.

Kerry rejected the advice and lost the election.

So why hasn't Mr. Clinton exhorted Mrs. Clinton to join Harkin in the bid to save Schiavo? "He probably did," one longtime Clinton watcher opined to NewsMax. "And it looks like she turned him down."

Why hasn't Bubba said anything in public?

Snort. Turned him down. She's refused to say a word on the subject when asked. Refused. Some CinC material there all right. Gutless, amoral wonder.

You mean the same man who signed the partial birth abortion legislation into law as his very first official act of office? Give me a friggin' break!

Misleading headline. Something that's reported by an anonymous source does not cut it. Let's hear Bubba say it out loud to the press.

Yeah, what's new. Now that the end is near, it''s "safe" to say that they supported her all along. So here's my take. If the nation's leading Democrats had all come out in the beginning to support Terri, that tube would have been re-inserted pronto. Those people are simply disgusting. But that's why they're where they are and how they got there. Taking the "safe" position.

Maybe the people will force the military to act to save her like they saved the children in Waco.

No. More revisionist journalism.

Yesterday on Sean Hannity show, a congresswoman (cannot remember name) was quoted as saying the demi-crats stayed out of this because Bill Clinton told them to...

Because he is still trying to advise people how to govern by polls, as he did. It does explain Hillary's conspicuous silence on this circus.

Cannot remember who this demi-crat is, but she was critical of that advice, now, because trying to make decisions based on polls (rather than principles....d'oh, what are THOSE?) was a major reason the demi-crats are where they are today - out-of-step and out-of-touch with the American public.

If Bill Clinton, Godfather of the Demi-crat Party, is NOW urging "his people" to get involved, it is because he's reading new polls.

What's with Newsmax -- noticed several of their articles on this story that don't quite track. Let Clinton speak in public -- anonymous sources doesn't cut it with me.

Seeing your name reminds me: did you read about Jesse Jackson's hidden agenda? I remember you were very suspicious yesterday when the news broke re: his support of Terri.

Willy is looking pale. Maybe He sees himself in a bad position, and Hilary doesn't need Him anymore.

The debate will not end for a long time, no matter what the outcome. And I'm willing to take what he says at face value, since Bill Clinton is reaching out to an issue led by anti-leftists.

Here we have the man with the ethics of pond scum having enough of a heart to see right-from-wrong on this. If a man who will pardon a crack dealer for cash, who vetoed the partial birth infanticide ban, who will send a kid against his will into a communist hell hole, who was tangled up with a bizarre mess at Waco and with Vince Foster, and Luther Parks, well how ON EARTH does that make the other side feel? Like Stalin and Hitler combined, perhaps?

JESSE JACKSON, BILL CLINTON, and RALPH NADER: that is a major rift. And it could just be the beginning. The Right is completely and irrecocably vindicated.

Taking the "safe" position.

I'm sure you're right and that's what they're thinking, but they're only succeeding in looking like even bigger hypocrites and opportunists. Let's hear it for the safety strategy :)

I am sorry, but it is not possible for me to credit an anonymous source quoted by Newsmax, and especially when the report is of behavior I deem uncharacteristic of the individual.

In the end, the democrats do not want to look like the party that advocated for the death of this disabled woman. It does not look peaceful or merciful at all. In fact it looks like the weak and helpless submitting to the domineering. Their image already as advocates of abortion does not help them in this area.

Considering Bill's recent health problems, I would think he would want to be on Terri's side. Bill knows Hillary better than anyone. He knows she wouldn't hesitate to remove his feeding tube, even if he were still conscious enough to object.

Yesterday on Sean Hannity show, a congresswoman (cannot remember name) was quoted as saying the demi-crats stayed out of this because Bill Clinton told them to...

Dem shill Arianna 'Zsa Zsa' Huffington says so too:

"In an interesting twist, it turns out that Bill Clinton had a behind-the-scenes role in the party’s decision to adopt a hands-off policy on the Schiavo debate. According to CBS News, the former triangulator-in-chief helped sway Schiavo bill backer Tom Harkin, “egging him on” to roll over and play dead — an odious echo of his efforts to get John Kerry to come out in favor of all 11 state constitutional amendments banning gay marriage. This kind of strategic calculation may have been all right in the mid-’90s, but not today, when the party is in desperate need of bold, decisive leadership."

I missed the article on Jackson.

Very suspicious is probably the understatement of the year. What bothered me was the NO ONE could find the two Senators he "flipped" which immediately made me suspicious. At one time Jackson couldn't remember who he talked with either. If had flipped two Senators that was the necessary votes, but Jackson kept saying three votes were necessary. Obviously he couldn't do the math because when you get one vote you take away a vote from the other side so when there is a three vote margin you only need two votes.

I could not believe what I was reading from some Freepers about Jackson -- if he cared he would have been in Tallahassee before the vote but that seemed missed on a whole bunch of people. Jackson like Klayman are the types if they told me the sky was blue, I would go check.
