Congress to Take Up Rights for Incapacitated
Fox News ^ | Monday, March 28, 2005

WASHINGTON — Congress is turning to more traditional means to help protect the rights of the incapacitated after failing to intervene in the Terri Schiavo (search) case by staging emergency midnight votes and summoning the brain-damaged woman to testify.

The Senate Health Committee (search) will hold a hearing on April 6 with neurology and palliative care (search) experts on the issue of health care provided to non-ambulatory people.

This hearing replaces one originally scheduled for Monday in which Terri Schiavo and her husband were asked to appear before the panel in Washington in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent caretakers from removing the woman's feeding tubes.

The House Government Reform Committee also plans to hold hearings at some time on the larger issues raised by the Schiavo case such as the long-term options available to the disabled, said David Marin, spokesman for committee chairman Tom Davis, R-Va.

Thanks for posting! Freepers need to use their energy to contact their Reps/Senators to do something and quit demanding Jeb call out the Guard. They would be a lot more productive in their calls to get behind a bill to protect people in the future which will be Terri's legacy.

But then they couldn't bash both Bush's! (sarcasm)

While I fear it's too late for Terri, if this passes, her death will not be in vain.  May she serve as a martyr for the life movement.

Judgenfuhrer Greer: "Who gives a hamster fart what Congress does.
It is March 29 and I have proven the US Congress
is NOTHING but pussies not worth a bucket of warm spit.
18 USC Section 1505 - I urinate on it. Title 2 of the US code - I deficate on it."

And Congress and the President won't do sh*t when some pissy judge rules their shiny new law to be un-Constitutional and kills the next Terri Schiavo.

I'll believe they're serious about restraining the judiciary when I see some Federal judges - or even USSC justices removed from the bench.

Until then this is just more pointless propaganda.

Too little too late.

They're just trying to appease folks like me, who think they're sniveling, spineless cowards.

Sad, but true.

When state probate judges ignore Congressional subpoenas and federal judges ignore the law to give a person a de novo factual review before being exterminated as worthless tissue, Congress is virtually irrelevant.

They better make themselves relevant, or we need to clean them out.

Do hope it gets past the obstructive Democrats. Also pray
the Court will be so moved by God to recognize they would
claim it "unconstitutional" at their own peril.WIll not hold my breath on either proposition.

"They better make themselves relevant, or we need to clean them out.

Guess they were too busy working on HOMELAND SECURITY and BORDER PROTECTION
to take up the Federal Constitutionally protect rights of one woman that they subpoenaed and that who was then murdered.

They are irrelevant now. All should be removed from Office and replaced by serious educated amateurs.

The US Military is winning the War on Terror.

Meanwhile, the Congress passes more pork and rules that don't apply to THEM
while posing for photo-ops by THEIR MSM.

Well said. This balding little bastard has more power than the Presdident of the United States and the entire US Congress.

Don't think the PRC isn't noticing this and wondering how they can manipulate our courts to prevent us from defending Taiwan.
