Bruce Springsteen: 'Devils & Dust' Lyrics

I got my finger on the trigger But I don't know who to trust When I look into your eyes There's just devils and dust

We're a long, long way from home, Bobbie Home's a long, long way from us I feel a dirty wind blowing Devils and dust

I got God on my side I'm just trying to survive What if what you do to survive Kills the things you love Fear's a powerful thing It can turn your heart black you can trust It'll take your God filled soul And fill it with devils and dust

Well I dreamed of you last night In a field of blood and stone The blood began to dry The smell began to rise

Well I dreamed of you last night In a field of mud and bone Your blood began to dry The smell began to rise

We've got God on our side We're just trying to survive What if what you do to survive Kills the things you love Fear's a powerful thing It'll turn your heart black you can trust It'll take your God filled soul Fill it with devils and dust

Now every woman and every man They want to take a righteous stand Find the love that God wills And the faith that He commands

I've got my finger on the trigger And tonight faith just ain't enough When I look inside my heart There's just devils and dust

Well I've got God on my side And I'm just trying to survive What if what you do to survive Kills the things you love Fear's a dangerous thing It can turn your heart black you can trust It'll take your God filled soul Fill it with devils and dust

It'll take your God filled soul Fill it with devils and dust

Bruce Springsteen is a THIRD RATE HACK. He has the intellectual level of a C high school student.I never understood why anyone found him to be talented or right about anything.

So write one. We have enough tech savvy people here to get it into a mpg file. I volunteer to host it. You will have an instant audience and fan club :)

I have to admit this doesn't lower my opinion of springsteen any, because I always thought he sucked anyway. Yell us another song, brucie.

"Born in the USA" is as patriotic as Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July"

(i.e. not).

Bruce has always had political messages in his music. It is a shame though that he talks about it outside of song now though.

Brucy is a dim bulb and his music all sounds the same. Who gives a crap what this drop out thinks.

Yeah, considering his last good album was The River. ....released exactly a quarter century ago.

When Carter was president.

I got a job working construction
At the Johnstown Company
But lately there hasn't been much work
On account of the economy

His early stuff is great. But he has been living on his past for the last ten years. He is a dinosaur.

Yeah, considering his last good album was The River. ....released exactly a quarter century ago.

And everything since then is just a variation on the same tired old themes and riffs.

Tell me about it. I saw a couple shows on that tour (in 1980) and it seems like yesterday. ....a quarter century in a blink of an eye.

Springsteen has pretty much become a one-man Spinal Tap. It won't be too long before he's stuck sharing amusement park stages with the puppet shows.
