Demonstrators Mary Porta, kneeling, and others pray for Terri Schiavo, Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, outside the hospice, where Terri resides, in Pinellas Park, Fla. Under increased security and with fading hopes, Terri Schiavo's parents asked supporters to return home to spend Easter Sunday with their families as the couple's severely brain-damaged daughter went a ninth day without food or water. However, the reason they have, IMHO, is because their hands are tied due to the laws on the books. I have to credit them for one thing though - they ARE following the law, and not acting based on their own personal feelings...
It's a toughie, alright...
Would her praying position be more pleasing to you, if she had her nose to the ground, her arms spread before her and her butt up in the air-Muslim style?
Watch out for the rabbit hole. It's around here somewhere.
Agreed.
Oh! Significantly, the executive is subject to an election every four years - the judiciary is not. This gives the decision of the executive more weight even if the legislature was neutral, because the executive is answerable to the people, and the judiciary is not.
Sure we can. However, what we lose is the ability to hold them accountable, because if we allow it when we agree, and not hold them accountable because it's "the right thing to do" regardless of the legality, then we have zero recourse when it occurs for something we disagree with...
All--
Poland was brutalized by both the Nazis and the Communists. Here is a Poland-based site worth a view.

No, both styles call to much attention to the prayer...prayer should not be a "look at me" exercise IMO.
LOL!
(I mean, really...like out loud. My wife actually poked her head around the corner to see what was up)
Im out of the US of A at the moment and not following this closely ..what would the "Bushes Blew It " crowd have them do.? Should they have gone in with nukes or what?
It is in very poor taste to bring the elder Bushs, who have served this country with distinction and honor, into this mess. Very very poor taste. Bash the brothers all you want, I'll help, but leave the elder Bushs out of it.
Yeah I anticipated the accountability objection... hence my previous post to you in which I addressed that, noting the executive is accountable by election, but the judiciary is not. Thus if accountability is your concern, this should cause you to favor the executive over the judiciary, not the other way around.
If you're right about this (and I think you well could be), then part of the problem, at least, is that we have crap laws on the books.
Theoretically, that's fixable. In practice, not terribly easy. But among systems of government, ours give the most hope for being able to repair itself through the will of the people.
But it can only be done by an informed electorate.
So, sites like freerepublic and talk show hosts like some of the good ones we have, become the means for justice in America.
Great picture.
There's something wrong about going after a grandma....just plain wrong.
Trust me, im crying/laughing at it too.
. = ?
I am very much against what is happening to Terri right now.
But, these people are strange. It is NOT the Bush brothers fault that this is happening.
Place the blame where it belongs: Michael Schiavo, Felos and Greer.
I'm not sure, but I think it involves a sword, a stone, and a white horse.
Oh, and something about a radioactive spider.
