If Terri dies when she could actually be kept alive, and Jeb Bush doesn't use the State Police or the Florida National Guard, or ANYTHING to prevent this travesty, he will be vilified by the democRATS if he ever seeks another office (like the Presidency).
It means nothing that some democRATS are actually trying to keep her alive. The only thing that the MSM will hammer on is that he stood by AS Governor and allowed that poor woman to DIE when he could have prevented it.
I can understand where you're coming from. And I can also understand where others believe that she may serve a higher purpose by proving the doubters that she is better off than popularly reported.
I always pray for the best for all concerned.
I have to admit that there seems to be some evil at work here.
(See my tagline.)
I agree. Jeb said yesterday afternoon that the Department of Children and Families could go get her. Well, for God's sake, for Terri's sake DO IT!
I am sick of chicken-s**t politicians. Pat Buchanan just said it best on 'Spitball' with Chris Matthews, "action creates consensus". The people will understand that the right thing was done after it is done.
Again Jeb Bush said it yesterday at that press conference, what the heck is he waiting for.
This girl, it has become clear to all who have been reading and listening closely to this case, has been mistreated for the past 15 years, yet she hung on. And, it is very likely that she was mistreated BEFORE her "incident". How does anyone explain all her mended broken bones?
This is a travesty, and I swear I feel dirty just seeing this inaction! It is a sickening feeling as Good Friday approaches.
Jeb, get on the phone, do what you must. Be a man........ a moral man!
Make it a Good Thursday.
Suppose he does step around the law and the ruling of the courts somehow, and gets her feeding tube reinserted. Everyone applauds, everyone is thrilled, and her parents are given hope again.
Then the courts step in, slap him down, and take the tube back out again, only this time, it's iron-clad. Then what?
Never mind his career - what does something like that do to her parents?
It is ok for the excutive to "throw out our entire system" in cases where a life is at stake. He has the power of executive clemency. If he has it to save criminals, he has it to save the innocent.
I haven't head that they have ruled on the constitutionality at all. They merely said, for an emergency injunction to be issued, there has to be grounds for suspecting that the party requesting the injunction could prevail.
As though it were any ole federal case. Totally ignoring the law's instructions for a total new review -- which they would have HAD to do before ruling that the injunction is not warranted; BUT in this case they didn't BECAUSE, HEY, YOU GUYS AREN'T GOING TO PREVAIL. We all know that YOU AREN'T GOING TO PREVAIL. WE ARE JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS.
Look, a law passed by Congress has prima facie cause to be considered constitutional!! Especially one would presume in an emergency situation, where the INTENT was to protect the LIFE of the subject pending a total new review.
If they HAD ordered feeding restored, and HAD begun a review, they WOULD have easily discovered that there ARE grounds that the parents might prevail -- such as have come to fore today! In their hurry, they have some egg on their faces.
The courts IGNORED all that, but they didn't say it was unconstitutional for Congress to so instruct them. Congress does have the power to determine the jurisdiction fo the federal courts, and they extended jurisdiction to this case.
And the judiciary has the power to decline to act, which is what it has done.
It's too late for me to go into all it would take to respond. I disagree completely. AND: Why is it that people say "conspiracy" when they disagree? I said NOTHING about any CONSPIRACY.
God will use this to his good--as he used his Son's death to good. When I hear about all the evidence that was supressed in this ordeal, I wonder if this is not a conspiracy to unleash the virus of euthanasia on this nation by Satin himself.
I understand that point of view as well, honestly I do.
God can do that without destroying the Bush family and I believe He would have done that already if he intended for Terri to stay here on earth.
Maybe He wants her home with HIM.
Not this time. That game is up. Greer and Michael can't play that hand again.
"And the judiciary has the power to decline to act, which is what it has done."
They totally ignored executive and legislative intent, which is the purpose of the law. No, they were arrogant and unresponsive, because of a pre-ordained agenda. They were not acting judicially.
For whatever it's worth? My wife ( the "new deal Democrat"-- think Zell Miller or Pat Moynihan ) is absolutely horrified at the Left's stance on this. Her office mate ( she calls him the "little Liberal girly-man" ) is, too.
Don't believe what you see from the screaming faces on the TV-- this "issue" cuts across ideology, party lines, and everything else.
My vest-pocket take on it?
"Don't care about Terri? Don't sweat it, but don't forget...
...you are next..."
No, but they will risk anything to gain power. Many judges are appointed and serve for life, these will make every decision based upon the maximum accumulation of power to the judge. Those elected are promoting law that will change their election to life terms, and then duplicate appointed judges seizure of power. You will note that now a judge you can't get rid of now decides if he himself or one of his buddies is breaking the law.
Check out Marbury Vs. Madison to see the strategy.
Eventually, we will have no legislators, executives or votes, only judges to decide EVERYTHING.
I'm glad you think so. Personally, I don't believe it.
I understand your point about the clemency for criminals but no power to do that for Terri.
I don't disagree that the laws aren't right. I just have a problem with our executives taking the law into their own hands.
I only mentioned my Dad because understand what is like to watch a loved one die, not because of any attempt to compare the case. Just that I can really relate to the pain of losing someone you love.
My Dad was able to make his own decision about the tube. It's what he wanted. Terri doesn't have that ability.
I hate that she doesn't. I am as furious as you all are with Greer and our court system.
I just don't want to see the chaos that would occur if the President or Governor Bush were to do something illegal.
