Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, standing upper right, prepares to arrest members of the Keys family as they were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo water Wednesday morning, March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The Keys family, of Burnet, Tex., kneeling, from left, Josie, 14, Gabriel, 10, Chris, the children's father, and Cameron 12, were all taken into custody. Galen Keys, upper left, the children's mother looks on, but was not arrested. The mother insists it was the children's idea: "I am proud of them," said the boys' mother Geilen Keys from Texas, who was not arrested. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri'."

Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, second from left, handcuffs 14-year-old Josie Keys, left, while Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies place her father Chris in the back of a van after arresting members of the family for trespassing Wednesday morning March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The family members were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a cup of water.

Gabriel Keys (foreground) is arrested by police officers for trespassing in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 23, 2005. The young protester attempted to take a glass of water into the Woodside Hospice for the brain-damaged Terri Schiavo. A federal judge rejected a request from the parents of Schiavo to order her feeding tube reinserted, dealing a blow to attempts by the U.S. Congress and the White House to prolong her life.

The day conservatism stops standing for rule of law is the day I jump parties.
I sympathize with the plight of the illegal.

Squaring the circle.

Let's cube it instead. I also sypathize with the people protesting, and I have grave concerns about Terri. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know all the facts of this stroy. I see conflicting evidence in every news account. When I don’t have all the facts I turn to God for guidance. I look at the husband and best case scenario; he is genuinely concerned about the suffering of Terri. If I put myself in the husband’s shoes I would say to myself “I know Terri didn’t want to live like a vegetable but she couldn’t possibly have imagined this. People think I’m a murderer. I will ask for donations to pay for Terri’s PET scans and have her examined by the world’s leading medical experts. I do not want my children’s names besmirched.”

Until I can hear a decent explanation why the husband wouldn’t want to clear his name I assume ulterior motives Medical science has exploded in the last 15 years. Why not have her tested and, if there is nothing, very few people could stand in the husband’s way. If I were the husband I would have done this several years earlier to shut up the parents. I can think of only a few honest reasons for the husband to act as he has, but many dishonest.

My heart tells me Terri should live and be tested.

The problem is our system of laws can’t force the husband to do the right…and maybe even smart thing. My gut tells me a great injustice is happening, but I do not see a legal solution. I can understand the consternation everyone feels because I feel it myself. I am unhappy about this but until we can find a better way to balance individual rights and government power, I’m afraid these kinds of tragedies will continue as a system flaw.

My heart does not tell me to join with the candle light vigils. Civil disobedience will not stop Terri from dying, and violence will not stop Terri from dying. Some times a cause needs martyrs.

Letting a lower court decision stand without comment/review is accepting said decision. Sort of like teh president not signing a law but not vetoing it either which after some days turns that bill into a law without his approval.

It's all a moot point now cause it's going before the court so there will be no speculation as to where they stand on this.

What if I do get her a drink of water? What next?

Yea it happened.

But I never saw anything to support the Father exploiting his daughter that way.

If it did happen that way, you can be sure it was a Liberal in Conservative clothing that had the daughter and the sign.

But I think it was just SOP for union thugs.

Post a link if you have one that shows what you claim.

I think what I was trying to say is being taken the wrong way. We wer quick to jump on these parents over the Schiavo case for "exploiting" their kids yet saw nothing wrong with a man taking his 3 y/o daughter to a highly charged political rally holding a sign guarenteed to get attention.

What I was trying to say was how can we say one is "exploitative" and the other isn't?

Tell her we love her and give her a kiss from us.

That is a well thought out plan. I don't know why I doubted your wisdom.

I live in WI but I'm packing my bags. Come on down and kiss Terry yourself. We'll met up for breakfast and make our plans to get arrested...or do you think we should use force?

I hope it goes without saying that I am unwilling to kill or torture anyone in our efforts to hydrate Terry

We'll just pray on that during the journey.

I was going to go down I-55 but I could swing over to PA if you need a ride. I've got plenty of room. I bought a big tour bus from Brother Love's traveling salvation show. The wife and kids won't becoming...they don't understand our quest. This maybe our only chance to save Terry and time is running out. Even if some one beats us to Terry and gives Terry some water she will still need more, and security might be even tighter if someone else gets through.

Do you know what kind of food Terry can swallow? It should be as nutritious as possible. There are so many things to consider to make this operation successful. I sure am glad I can count on you for help, but eventually to ensure Terry lives, we will need to make the government do what we demand. Talk of this sort can often be misconstrued as treasonous or seditious so perhaps we should discuss this by Freepmail.

I don't know about the jumping on parents in the Schiavo case as I don't have time to read the thousands of posts to keep up to speed.

I do see something wrong with a Father taking his young Daughter to an event where the Liberals may injure kids.

No one should take a young child where there is danger like that.

It's not exploitative in that case, just ignorance.

If the law of God is that she will live then I am sure she will live. That would be quite a miracle.

If he is so upset that someone made that comment, he shouldn't be repeating it as though it is his belief.

He can use 'copy and paste' to show the offensivensss and idiocy of the other poster, or quotes to show that it was another poster's words, or use a sarcasm tag.

To write it they way he did, made it look like it was his own words and he hasn't done anything to dispel that except to say that he doesn't like his faith being mocked.

I say that original poster is wrong, regardless of the 'holy season' and CF is no better. Two wrongs . . . .

I do try to avoid unpleasant people, but sometimes I think that they go over the line where silence is appropriate.

There are times when you have to act. I took my 11 year old to Klamath. I believe a 10-12 year old is more than capable of understanding the difference between the right and wrong of such issues, particularlyt if they have been raised that way.

So...we disagree. You raise yours the way you see fit, I'll raisee mine (and have) the way I see fit. My youngest is now 16, oldest is 26. They know the score becasue we have taught them about America and how to think for themselves. My 11 year old at the time had previously been with me to Washington DC and to Jarbidge, NV. Mnay Freepers have met Jared and can attest to his ability to know what was going on at the time.

Again, I applaud the parents. You may conmdemn them...that is your right. So we disagre.

...because it seems that you took the mother's contention at face value.

I just wanted to know if you had experience as a parent. Having children yourself, you must know that children at that age are remarkably self absorbed. From my experience, it seems somewhat of a stretch that children of their ages could, independently, assess and react to this situation, as they did.
My point is that if these children reacted as their mother claims, then they are mighty special. I don't believe her.
If it is true, than they have been brainwashed from a very early age. How they turn out as adults will be interesting to observe.
