Seventeen states have no laws requiring parental notification before a minor daughter aborts. I live in one of them, Illinois.
Here is one example how unobstructed minor "choice" translates. The incident occurred less than a week ago.
Jack* arrived home the morning of March 17 after working the midnight shift in time to see his two stepchildren off to school. His wife, Shane*, had already left for her job as a school bus driver. But 14-year-old Nicole* was nowhere to be found.
Jack was promptly worried. Nicole had recently told her family she was pregnant by 16-year-old boyfriend Mark*, and the two sets of grandparents had begun battling over whether the baby should live or die.
Nicole's family is pro-life. "I was raised Baptist," Shane told me. "Abortion is a sin; you just don't do it. I'm also adopted."
But Mark's side wanted Nicole to abort. During a run-in between the families, Mark sobbed that the baby would ruin his future. Mark's mother said she had aborted five times and would do it again. Mark's father said it was Nicole's "choice."
After Mark's mother suggested to Nicole, "You probably hate that baby inside you, don't you?" Shane forbade Nicole any contact with Mark or his parents and warned them not to come near her.
Shane notified Nicole's school that she was a runaway risk and not to let her to leave with anyone but her parents.
On March 15, Shane took Nicole to New Beginnings Pregnancy Care Center in Granite City, Ill. Shane saw her baby's heartbeat on ultrasound and decided the baby must be a boy. She named him Bradley and resolved to let him live.
Nicole and Mark attended different high schools, and Shane thought the two were successfully being kept apart. But she didn't account for friends' cell phones. She didn't account for a puppy love so strong it would deaden her daughter's conscience.
When Nicole went missing, Jack placed an emergency call to Shane.
Shane had a gut feeling she knew exactly where Nicole was. Hope Clinic, a mega abortuary in Granite City, was only 10 minutes away. Shane grabbed a girlfriend and raced over.
There is a security shack outside Hope Clinic. Shane clutched her stomach and told the guard she needed to see a counselor. She saw Nicole's name on his clipboard and that she had arrived at 7:46 a.m. It was now 8:30 a.m.
The guard escorted Shane and her friend into the mill, where Shane demanded to speak to her daughter. The receptionist said Nicole was not there. Shane said she knew her daughter was in the building and that she wasn't leaving until they talked.
"There was a waiting room to the side," Shane told me. "While they were hollering for security, I said to my girlfriend, 'Handle them,' and I went in and looked around. There were girls stacked up in chairs and on the floor like cattle. They were all so young."
Nicole wasn't among them.
Shane went into the hallway and started yelling Nicole's name and begging to see Nicole. Later, Nicole said she heard her mother and asked a staff member to let them speak. The staffer came downstairs and told Shane there was no patient named Nicole. She went back upstairs and told Nicole her mom had left.
When the Granite City police arrived, Shane sat on the floor and refused to leave.
So they dragged Shane out of the building and put her in the back of their squad car. "The entire time I pleaded with them for help. One officer told me to see my senator."
Meanwhile, a sidewalk counselor called an attorney, who advised Shane to file a rape report. The officers released Shane, and she drove to the Wood River police station.
When they finally decided to investigate, it was too late. "By the time I got back to the clinic at 11:15 a.m., it was over and she was gone," said Shane.
Nicole later said the clinic bumped her up to the first appointment of the day.
During her short recovery, Nicole vomited three times. The clinic sneaked Mark out the back door and released Nicole out the front door all by herself at 10:35 a.m. with a paper bag in case she vomited again.
Nicole's school finally notified her parents at 2:22 p.m. that a "grandmother" had called that morning to say Nicole would not be in attendance all day.
Following the abortion, Nicole has complained of back pain and tender breasts. There was only a small amount of bleeding until Monday night, when she began discharging blood clots.
Meanwhile, because it's spring break, Mark and his family have gone away on vacation.
Egads. Perhaps #6 would have been a "service" in this case.
BTW - Our family still believes in "fueds". This is justification to commence one. Sounds like they were all in one room, too.
The parents should sue the boy, the boy's parents, the clinic, the clinics physican and medical staff by name, and the City's Police Department, including individual officer's by name (re: civil rights violation).
In terms of law, there's no way they could lose. The only question under the law would be, are their grounds for a criminal complaint. Aside from the murdered child, what if some strangers took a child to some clinic to have her breasts enhanced, her nipples pierced, teeth pulled, etc., and she died from the procedure?!

The story is not suprising. Abortion clinic personell are demented and will do anything to keep the abortions rolling. Amazing how a 14 year old can have an abortion but not be allowed access to other small operations legally. Even more, the school just allows some "grandmother" to excuse the girl even though they were instructed to not allow anyone to excuse her but her parents.
Here in Massachusetts, a minor can get an abortion without parental notification but an adult can not get a tatoo because it is a "medical procedure".
Sounds like they railroaded that girl, bigtime.
The abortion clinic can't have any legal standing that permits them to do that could they? All logic and reason says no, but yet, all these states allow this without parental notification. Shouldn't they all be bankrupt from the lawsuits already?
I live in O'Fallon, just a few miles from Granite City, where my wife grew up - and the home of the "Hope" Clinic. This facility is well known for its barbaric tactics and its desire to kill any baby that comes into its doors. There are hundreds of these types of stories from around the area - all winding up at the Hope Clinic.
If you know these parents and they need support, please let me know. We aren't rich, but we can certainly help raise funds for you to sue these people. Not letting you see your daughter, i believe, amounts to kidnapping. You cannot tell a mother that her daughter is not there and tell the daughter that her mother is not there...it is forcibly kidnapping the girl.
This is outrageous! Of course, this is covered by "Madison County", the judicial hellhole we've all heard of.
More horror.
No lawsuit. Abortiion falls out of the realm of parental notification or consent. Your children belong to the state and the aborters when it comes to killing babies. There is legally nothing you can do in this situation.
We are becomeing a death culture.
You might want to check your local laws on tattoos, it might just be illegal in your city. Oklahoma is the last state in the union where tatooing is illegal statewide. That's been in the news here a lot while they talk about legalizing it. I think the last state to legalize it was South Carolina.
"We are becomeing a death culture."
Yes we are.. Its sort of strange too the people convincing and tricking young women to have abortions nonstop.. also want all the pension and medicare benefits for the elderly.
Just who do they think is going to pay for those benefits?
Its unbelievable how much we try to prevent young women from having children. Everyone from their teachers, socialist councelors, family doctors, to the pregnant woman healthcare..
Are all convincing and recommending abortion for the woman.
Mark 16, Nicole 14. Maybe Nicole's parents could get the state to charge Mark with statutory rape. Failing that, maybe sue for wrongful death which, from the O.J. debacle, we all know has a different set of rules.
Just who do they think is going to pay for those benefits?
Slaves.
Well the Democratic party always has been the party of slavery.
Exactly... Abortion is not a medical procedure (nudge-nudge, wink-wink), just like AIDS isn't a communicable disease (nudge-nudge, wink-wink). Getting an abortion is a constitutional civil right, just like being able to keep the AIDS infection secret is a civil right.
In fact, I believe that in many states a child's pregnancy and STDs are not allowed to be discussed by the doctor with the parents.
I know it would never happen, but I wish that it were possible to sue the abortion clinic to force them to take over the care and raising of a child, as well as all the associated costs, when they make a medical decision of that magnitude.
We are becomeing a death culture.
What do you mean "becoming?" We're already there. And then some...
Mark
Just who do they think is going to pay for those benefits?
Not to worry... Euthanasia is right around the corner. And hey, since death by dehydration and starvation is so "peaceful," at least according to the New York Times, no care needs to be given to the infirm. Just leave a tray of food and drink in the corner of the room. If the old folks can't feed themselves, then starvation and dehydration is a natural death.
You don't have to worry about paying benefits when the old folks are dead!
