Its been a while since Saturday Night Live regularly inspired an I cant believe they did that! reaction in viewers, but the March 12 show came pretty close.
Keen observers of a sketch about a celebrity roast of Clint Eastwood might have noticed something peculiar about how the shows host, David Spade, was made up to look like Owen Wilson.
His nose looked like a penis. Not 'kind of like a penis'; it looked like a urologically-correct appendage, right down to what we believe is called the dorsal vein.
We took a digital photo of the screen image and showed it to an NBC spokesman, who said, I dont see what youre seeing, which made us wonder if we just had a dirty mind. But, no: A source at the show confirms that Spade was indeed fitted with a penile proboscis.
It was hilarious, says the source. Owen Wilson has a bad nose, but not that bad. Our SNLer was surprised that we had detected what amounted to an inside joke.
Indeed, when viewed on a medium-sized TV, Spades customized schnozz is not that obvious. But in this case, size does matter: On the large-screen TV we happened to be watching, it was as plain as the whatever that is on your face.
All of which may help explain why the FCC reports that they have not received any complaints about the sketch. Not even from Owen Wilson, whose publicist declined to comment. Mr. Spades rep did not return a request for comment.
the nose knows ........... ping.
I've always thought Spade was a pecker-head...
"All of which may help explain why the FCC reports that they have not received any complaints about the sketch"
No, it's explained by the fact that no one watches SNL anymore.
Under News and Activism? LOL
That is almost as funny as the story.
I saw it, it was actually pretty funny. Everyone on the sketch was trying to stifle their laughter and the crowd was hysterical.
Har! I read the title and thought SNL brought back Al Franken.
I like Mad TV better. I also miss In Living Color. SNL just ain't what it used to be. Anyone remember The Kids In The Hall? They were pretty funny (I'm Squashing your Head"}
Uh, In Living Color tried this more blatently 12 years ago with Jim Carrey in a skit called the Buttmans. Carrey had a 9 inch fake penis for a nose.
speaking of SNL I was changing channels yesterday and MesSNBC was showing a clip from SNL (probably from last week). It was a Hardball spoof which had Will Forte playing Zell Miller--and from what I could gather, making him seem racist. "Zell" was heard saying that the good old days were when the major leagues were segregated and
"Chris Matthews" (Darrell Hammond) was saying "We'll be back. Zell Miller will make some more racist comments."
Er...I don't think the real Zell Miller has even come close to being a racist? I could see if they did a spoof of Robert "Sheets" Byrd being one...
there was an old SNL sketch (original cast) where two spaceships collided--the one with the all male crew
looked like a phallic symbol while the one with the
all female crew was shaped like a circle. And when they collided--well, you get the idea what it looked like.
One of the women (Jane Curtin) gets the urge for a cigarette while one of the men on the all-male ship
(Garrett Morris) insists that they "do it again".
Maybe it's just symbolic, but, to quote Sigmund Freud
(Dan Aykroyd) in another SNL sketch, "Sometimes a banana
is just a banana...Anna..." (his daughter, played by
Laraine Newman)
Don't watch the show and curiousity got the better of me.
Would I be banned if I posted the pic of the projectile in question? Maybe just a link?

I actually watched about 30 minutes this weekend while waiting for the Saturday monster movie to come on. It was the first time I watched in years and Ashton Kutcher (sp?) aka Mr. Demi Boytoy was hosting.
The beginning skit was okay, it was a Hardball paradoy, but everything else was nearly as unwatchable as my monster movie (Scarecrows), except my movie had a lot of inanimate objects that brought the movie to life.
LOL.
That may be true, but Chris Matthews last night and previously likes to show the SNL send-up on his Hardball show. More people watch Matthews on SNL than watch him on MSNBC!
;-)
Just trying to give you a "heads up".
;-)
Reminds me of an impeached ex-president.
Now to someone from earlier... now this is offensive.
I guess you must have had one of those big TV's to see it "as plain as the whatever that is on your face."
;-)
