As Per Fox News
Amen! God be Praised!
Why or why didn't Congress just make it a general law applying to anyone in her situation?? Right now it reads like a totally unconstitutional bill of attainder.
I still believe that this is very unlikely to save Terri's life. It might not even get a temporary reinsertion of a feeding tube.
Why?
No. I'm glad for Terri but concerned for all the others out there like her. We need a law which applies to all cases without a medical directive.
The Lord is Terri's Shepherd --- That's Relationship !!!
She shall not want --- That's Supply !!!
He maketh her to lie down in green pastures --- That's Rest !!!
He leadeth her beside the still waters --- That's Refreshment !!!
He restoreth her soul --- That's Healing !!!
He leadeth her in the paths of righteousness --- That's Guidance !!!
For His name sake --- That's Purpose !!!
Yea, though Terri walk through the valley of the shadow of death --- That's Testing !!!
She will fear no evil --- That's Protection !!!
For Thou art with her --- That's Faithfulness !!!
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort her --- That's Discipline !!!
Thou preparest a table before Terri in the presence of her enemies--- That's Hope !!!
Thou annointest her head with oil --- That's Consecration !!!
Her cup runneth over --- That's Abundance !!!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow Terri all the days of her life --- That's Blessing !!!
And she will dwell in the house of the Lord --- That's Security!!!
Forever --- That's Eternity !!!
Congressional Subpoena & President Signs Schiavo Bill --- That's Deliverance !!!
Face it ---- The Lord is crazy about Terri !!!
Otherwise --- Why else would He continuously deliver her from
the evil hands of her attempted murderers ???
That's not in dispute, he was asking why it wasn't a Bill of Attainder. One prerequisite for such a bill is the imposition of punishment.
Yes...............and Dr. Weldon...............
It's a law that applies to one person, and one person only -- and could result in a federal court sentencing her to death. Sorry, but that's unconstitutional.
Because it is an emergency measure to save a woman's life, not to punish, not to deprive anyone of any property.
Yes, and soon.
You need to read up on what a Bill of Attainder actually is.
Because it's not a punishment. It simple allows a specific party access to the federal courts.
It's a Bill of Attainder against Michael Shiavo in a way sin't it? It strips him of his 'right' as Terri's guardian. If this goes to the Supreme Court within the next few days...let's just say I'm nervous.
Yes, mel Martinez and Rick santorum and Sensenbrennar have all been active on this and deserve praise. Also heard Conrad-D was instrumental in the Senate vote, thanks to him as well.
YEEEEEEEEEEEES!
"Why?"
In this case I understand the pressing need for speeds sake, but it seems the antithesis of "equal protection under the law"
Interesting interpretation. Wrong. But interesting.
"Am I the only one uncomfortable with the idea of a law written for one person?"
No, I am too. Other than its symbolic value, this bill is near meaningless. What we really need is a bill that makes it illegal for people to declare that they want doctors to "pull the plug" if they get in an accident. Suicide is illegal; so should this be.
Who knows -- maybe Schiavo really told her husband to pull the plug in such a circumstance. But she does not have the right to take her own life after an accident any more than before an accident.
