US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)
Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro
This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.

More broadly, there needs to be Federal Legislation on Euthanasia.Let's have some Federal Legislation on animal cruelty, too. May as well, while we're overriding state legislatures and state courts.

I think you'd personally like to throttle her, but to be humane you'd instead just hold a pillow over her face.
By the way, I didn't catch your resume. Where'd you go to Med school?

Actually the legislature was supposed to be superior because they could declare certain areas beyond the courts' purview. But the legislature was also to observe the restrictions imposed by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
It was also stated by some of the founding fathers that this gov't would only succeeed with a God-fearing people ; obviously marxists do not qualify.

The Party who worships at the alter of death until the First Breath, now wants to become the Party of the Last Breath.

I am cynical. If the Republicans really cared about TS, this would have been done six weeks ago, or two months agoI don't know that he would have had the support...state options had to be exhausted.

By that logic I would have been active in defense of terri's life months ago. years ago. I wasn't. I am now. Are you going to say I don't care? Because I assure you I DO.

A lot of people are on Delay's case. We have been wondering when he would get out in front on such a major issue, and he has done it. The die is cast. This is important, the most important issue in a long time. Go for it, Tom Delay.

Try Medicare fraud for starters. Felos is up to his eyeballs in it.

I am sure this has been asked a zillion times, but what happens if after the President signs the bill, a dem goes to a federal judge to get a restraining order until the constitutionality of this bill can be determined?

We are ALL potentially Terri Schiavos.
I love it.

Tom DeLay waited until zero hour, with maximum media exposure, to trot out this bill.
Or he was waiting to see if the FL courts did the right thing so as to not require the involvement of Congress. Since they didn't do the right thing, he was forced to act.
