Per Fox News...
I really do think the conservatives are doing everything they can. If Terri dies, it won't be their fault.
You are wrong. A marriage contract is exclusive. Somehow (and it will come out) an adulterer is allowed to remain her guardian. Adultery is against the contract.
Sorry BeforeISleep.....I am so emotional about this...I misread it. Thought you meant why is Terri's family visiting. Sorry, sorry, sorry...we're on the same side here. It's getting to me this whole thing.
Thank you...U R RIGHT.
We are all entitled to our opinions w/out attacking and calling Freepers "trolls." "sick puppu."
At first that's what I would have liked to see happen. Have Michael let the family take her in. But I've changed my mind.
#1. In 1990 Terri's parents did take her in and were "overwhelmed" (their word) and returned her to Rehab. There's no reason to believe that 15 years older they are more prepared for the hardship.
#2. Michael has been found credible by several courts and judges when he says that he promised his wife, if there was no other hope, that she would live on tubes, etc. I believe he's trying to carry that promise out. I know most freepers don't believe him.
#3. Michael had finally had it when the Schindlers testified to the following. He said something like, "I'll never let that happen."
Court testimony provided by members of the Schindler family included very personal statements about their desire and intention to ensure that Theresa remain alive . . . at any and all costs. Nearly gruesome examples were given, eliciting agreement by family members that in the event Theresa should contract diabetes and subsequent gangrene in each of her limbs, they would agree to amputate each limb and would then, were she to be diagnosed with heart disease, perform open-heart surgery. Within the testimony, as part of the hypothetical presented, Schindler family members stated that even if Theresa had told them of her intention to have artificial nutrition withdrawn, they would not do it.
That's true. Where is the evidence that she said that? That's what makes this so horrible. They should require something signed. Lacking that, they should also give her an attorney, someone who can speak for her. Like they do children in custody cases. That's all.
Well, think about it. How would his book (waiting in the wings, I'm sure) go over if he loses and Terri goes into the care of her family? Talk shows....HBO movie with him as the star?
I don't have a dog in this fight but I truly do not understand that without a written signed statement by Terri why he doesn't let her go into her family's care, get on with his life, and cas-sa-rah-sa-rah(got to be another way to spell that) And I question why did he wait until he got the $ settlement to remember that she didn't want to live? A true mess to be sure.
He is an evil man.
So is Michael's assertion that Terri wouldn't want to live "like this". I wouldn't want my life in the hands of "my husband" who has already moved on with his new live-in and their two kids. I would want someone who still cared about my well being (which isn't Michael). Most normal people would just walk away and let Terri's family care for her. Why doesn't Michael?! He seems to have a pretty strong will to see her DEAD.
Did you read the story about The jouney of Kate. They tried to pull her feeding tube also. Trouble was, she was very much alive in there. We just don't know.
It's alright cubreporter. I understand
Not necessarily .. just ask abused women who have been choked
and it would no way explain such "severely" low potassium.
I'm not questioning her low potassium ..
I'm just pointing out that Judge Geer denied the families request for an investigation
Adultery is only illegal against the TWO parties involved.
That would be Terri & Michael. TERRI herself would have to take Michael to court over adultery.
B/c it's NO ONE ELSES BEESWAX.
Plain & simple.
You are obviously overemotional and cannot make rational statements.
Go take a walk or a nap and come back after you settle down.
Terry was represented by her own attorey. She had a guardian ad litem appointed.
Regarding the $$, according to court papers, Michael formally offered to divest himself entirely of his financial interests in the guardianship estate.
Why didn't Terri's parent take him up on that offer?
And if he's in it for the $$, why hasn't he accepted the two offers he's had? One for $10M and one for $1M?
As I said, it seems from reading the case history of this that Michael tried everything possible for Terri. Experimental therapy even. Changing his profession to become a respiratory therapist.
When the malpractice case was heard in court, you can imagine the number of professional doctors who were called as witnesses for both sides. It was when he heard that she was PVS with no hope, that I think he decided it was time to carry out her wishes.
You may twist that any way you wish. But after reading the court transcripts and the GAL report, I think you would change your mind about some of your charges.
That was low blow and absolutely uncalled for. Shame on you.
It might be true that whether Michael has someone else is none of our business. However, don't you think there would be some kind of a conflict of interest there? What kind of a woman would take up with a man and have 2 children by him, knowing he has a wife in Terri's state. I just think he has lost his objectivity here. Having her die, might be an answer to his dilemma. Many men have killed their wives for less reason.
