What happened is that Terri ended up a victim of probate. She's property like cash or real estate. It happened because guardianship of children and the incapacitated has to be decided by someone, and it goes along with wills and inheritances. Greer is a probate judge. That vermin, Couhey, who just admitted to killing Jessica Lunsford, will have more rights than Terri because Couey is a "corpus" as in "habeus corpus" and Terri is just chattle.

(anecdote)--I beheld one probate judge with what another poster called "black robe fever". It was in Texas where a girl over thirteen was trying to exercise her statutory right to state her preference of living with either her mother or dad in a divorce case. She attempted to speak, but the judge told her to shut up or he'd turn her over to a foster home. She had no recourse. It's not something you forget easily--being in the grip of a Bad Judge. It took over a year, but finally they managed to get another judge.

Why doesn't Michael let himself and Terri off the hook? Give in to the heartfelt wishes of the parents to be allowed to try to help her? (I'm not going to assert that she will improve, just that there is hope.)

I once listened to a woman in an interview who was considering getting a late term abortion. She was asked, "You've gone this far. Why not have the baby and make some infertile couple happy in adoption?" Her reply really knocked me between the eyes. "You, I want this to end. I want closure. I can't get over the number of freepers who keep saying Michael tried to strangle her.

I've never alleged anything like that. My concern is that her blood family wants to take her home and care for her - including the mother who gave her birth. Why shouldn't they be allowed to? Her husband has a new wife - a common law wife - and two kids by her. His claim to have Terri's interest at heart is severely compromised by the fact his two kids can't take his name - they're illegitimate - as long as he remains married to Terri and Terri remains alive. The family haven't "moved on with their life" -- Terri is still their blood relative and they haven't replaced her, as it were, with another. But Michael has. As Larry King asked - and Ann Coulter seconded - why can't Michael just move on with his life and let her go? Let her mother take care of her, as she is begging to do?

This is the extent of her injuries:

Remember that women with eating disorders can lose 30% of their bone mass in a year. (Her medical chart also shows her to be undernourished and low in calcium.)

And the only broken bones she had, according to the full deposition of the radiologist was:

- a compression/hairline fracture in lumbar 1, which he said could have happened when she fell (my mother pretty regularly walks around with a hairline fracture in her foot)

- some of her ribs and the parts of the thoracic vertebra they were connected to in the back, which is extremely common after CPR, even in people with strong bones.

That's it.

The rest are just bruises (like her femur), and common joint problems among people in her condition and rehab. The Drs who saw her treated her for those things.

There would also have been outward signs like bruising had she been attacked, and it would no way explain such "severely" low potassium.

He didn't say he suddenly remembered. Why didn't he say that IN THE FIRST PLACE?! Maybe because he wanted the MONEY from the lawsuit FIRST? Then when he "moved on" with his life he didn't want to be bothered with Terri any longer?

Why has Terri NEVER been represented by her own attorney? Wouldn't a CONVICTED KILLER have their own attorney? Why not Terri, someone not connected to either side of the argument?
