Today we met in Fayetteville, NC to Freep a motley rabble of socialists, anarchists, Code Pink-os, and other throwbacks to the 60's! As usual, we were well outnumbered by their hordes of college students, aging hippies and other bused-in protestors, but we held our own as always.
Please post any reports and observations on this thread only.

We didn't get on the news this morning - schedule change for them - but you can see me at Post 75 (?) singing the National Anthem.

CD introduced me to rrrod, who was there early in the day with 2 Cubans who very recently attained asylum in the US.
Their enthusiastic smiles made it clear how happy they were to be here.
There were language problems, naturally - gotta work on that, rrrod. :) But the simple fact of their presence nullified all the pinko rhetoric.

That is the guy that attacked Bert. Why was he not charged with assault?
To: Justanobody
Why was he not charged with assault?... because he looks like a hedgehog, and the police didn't want real trouble from the loony animal wing of the left...

I know you've got to be tired; but James is such a cutey; he's probably so excited by what he did at the protest today! :) Dreaming of going airborne, already. Obviously, James is thinking "psyops". :>

The girls are in the second picture on post 90. The 7" height difference is obvious enough :-).

Not me! It used to be that everyone thought CD and Mykidsmom were married. That was so funny when they ran disclaimers about that in their tag-lines.

A video link: http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/news/031905_APlocal_peacerally.html
"Anne Hladik is a military wife too. Her husband is in Baghdad, preparing to come home from his second deployment. She stood with the counter-protesters.
"'I'm very insulted that people came here specifically to harass our military families,' Hladik said. 'It's hurtful because it gives (soldiers overseas) the illusion, at what may be a difficult time, that the nation may be against them.'
"Hladik said the best way to show support for U.S. troops was to send care packages and calling cards to service men and women overseas."

A video link to their website would be *deeply* appreciated.
Really sorry, I don't have that capability right now. In fact I've been off as I had to shut down, change a battery & c r a w l e d to get back on.
To: dstarr
I thought the funniest part was when we waved "good bye" to the buses, cheerfully yelling "Goodbye! Don't come back!"

About 50 counter-protesters held signs and waved flags in an area near the peace rally that they designated an American zone. I did actual counts at different times, with folks coming and going. I counted 127 at one time. My guess is total attendance over the day somewhere just shy of 200.
