Did you see the post where it was noted that Terri actually worked and support the two of them prior to her collapse. MRS, before he became so smart and popular, had trouble holding jobs, went through six in two years.

The whole thing stinks. The predominance of thought from the wise posters who I trust here at FR, who have followed this story much more than I have, suggest that the husband may be a RAT! I don't know, but I do usually trust the great number of very wise posters at FR.

Or cremation is used to hide things, IMHO.

Hildy expressed his/her opinion...and that is his/her right. Hildy should not be attacked for expressing that opinion...because it doesn't meet with what the majority of Freepers want.

I just hope a new judge looks at the case.

I can just see her lying there so helpless and alone.

Are her parents allowed to visit her now, do you know?

What a beast MS and his devil lawyer are.

Why he is not being investigated is beyond my comprehension.

You mean 'dung-heap' harkin? I know the Republicans aren't perfect, but they are different than the dems in many ways, and I hope they can bring a stay to Terri's execution by the civil authorties.

How it was ever determined that there was no conflict of interest with MS determining whether she lives or dies is unfathomable (sp?) to me.

Does this federal review take the case out of the hands of Judge Greer?

Yes, MRS may be a rat, but he is a registered Pinellas County Republican too. He works for a Republican official; so did his late potential mother-in-law, Eleanor Centonze.

"De novo" means that the federal court does not defer to the findings of fact of the state court, e.g., that Terri really wanted to die or that she's in a persistent vegitative state. The federal court must conduct a fresh trail and find the facts independently.

To give credit where it is due, the original poster of that interesting article was JustaCowgirl (and, being a Nevada boy, I must say a cowgirl is NEVER "just" a cowgirl!

What it basically boils down to with me is that this is like a Ross MacDonald Lew Archer novel, except the people involved are more stupid and venal than even MacDonald could have imagined. The far-reaching implications of Terri's case may be properly getting the attention now, but this turgid nest of vipers in Pinellas County also needs some looking into.

Boy that was kind of a let-down--I don't know what I was expecting, but something more exciting--

Watching Senate procedures is normally boring

Unless Uncle Teddy the drunk is up screaming or Bob Sheet Bryd is going off with one of his poems .. *L*

I fear that the MRS faction may murder her tonight or Sunday before the tube can be reinserted.

If the federal court appoints MRS as her guardian, it will be the same ol' same ol', won't it?

Or cremation is used to hide things,

Only if you buy the theory of this nuerologist (Hammesfahr) that she was murdered by her husband.

It is crucial in this case, as it permits the court to reconsider the facts in the case, which would normally be off limits.

Well it sounds like a Federal judge will look at the case all over again.

Greer is a state judge right?

I understood what you said.

I'm just saying that until Friday, I never would have dreamed that a lowly circuit court judge would ignore the Congressional subpoena for Terri and that a US attorney would refuse to enforce it.

So, I don't feel comfortable with all these compromises in this bill.
