addiction

I bet you are "addicted" to food, clothes, housing, transportation.

First they come for the smokers.

Then they come for you. :-(

They (gov'ment and trial lawyers) are already going after fast food companies. Anywhere either smells money, they will attack with fines and taxes or lawsuits. When they get substantial settlements from the fast food industry, you can bet they will start after the makers of cookies, cereals, colas, and another othe products that are less than stellar in health benefits. [Not that they want people to eat healthy; no, they just want to use that as an excuse to tax non-healthy foods.]

Hardly. First they came for a whole host of substance users over the decades. Tobacco users are the ones who get to say "...and now there's nobody left to speak up for me".

Tax Freedom Day is between the middle of April and the end of May this year. Personally, I'm betting it's closer to the end of May. The legislatures have been really busy hiding the new bites over the last year.
