It should be noted that this wouldn't have been possible hadn't Mr. Bush spent so much effort on the stomp for GOP Senate candidates. Over the last two election cycles, only Senator Coleman broke rank.

Why did the Democrats from Hawaii voted for it? Doesn't sound like something they are interested in.

Yeah, but Arlen Specter voted for drilling in a tiny portion of ANWR.
To: Maverick32984
Well, Coleman made it clear when he was running that he opposed drilling in ANWR so his vote doesn't come as a real surprise. At least he was honest and didn't change his position after being elected.

McCain voted against it? What a surprise.
Guess who I won't be supporting in 2008...

Chafee, Coleman, Collins, DeWine, McCain, Smith, and SnoweColeman? What happened to his spine? The rest are no surprise, but I didn't think Coleman was the kind of guy who ran away from the environmental front groups for the anti-capitalist global socialists and their allies in the scumbag liberal press like a scared bunny rabbit....

Today marks the beginning of the end of the dims as we know it. ANWR has been a fund raising cash cow for the dims for many years. With ANWR off the table, what are the environuts going to use to raise money?
A cursory look at DU will show one just how PO'd they are!! Some are even openly talking about being hostile.
Along with the polls that show 61% of AARP members approve private accounts, is Pres. Bush' appointments to Sec. of State, the World Bank and UN; the power of the left is in a severe state of decay. The money swamp is being systematically emptied.
As great a day as it is for the good guys, remember a cornered animal(rat) is a very dangerous -- especially if the have rabies as seen over at DU.
As for the RINOs, sooner or later they'll go where they perceive the money is and side with the winners. It wouldn't surprise me to see a few dims switch parties soon -- after hearing the reaction from the environuts to their vote in favor of ANWR.
In short, the ripple effects will be enormous.

I think Coleman is going to try for a presidenial run... '08? hmmm... His votes of late seem odd. I know he used to be a democrat but, something seems wrong.

There were clearly some tradeoffs here, and I bet the guys in Hawaii traded off their "yes" votes (so they could say they were trying to hold down gas prices) to people like DeWine, who want to say they are "environmentalists." Still, it shows you the value of a bigger majority in the senate. The Dems are in heap big trouble.

Chafee (R-RI), Coleman (R-MN), Collins (R-ME), DeWine (R-OH), McCain (R-AZ), Smith (R-OR), Snowe (R-ME).
The usual suspects once again. They are Republicans in name only. It never seems to matter how many senators we pick up in an election cycle when you have senators like the ones above. THEY SUCK!!
To: Maverick32984; newgeezer
They're not drilling yet. I wouldn't hold my breath.

How I wish that Texas and Louisiana could cut off our gas and oil to the states these RINO losers come from! I'd love to see the northeast senators and McCain's Arizona voters riding their bicyles to work every morning. It surely gets cold up in the NE in the winter and sure gets hot in AZ in the summer. I don't think they'd be re-elected.

I just noticed a HUGE typo in my article: Cantwell's amendment failed to pass. Sorry for the false shock people! Newbie mistake!
