ANWR provision passes Senate 51 to 49-- a Blow to the RINOs?
Thursday, March 17, 2005 | Maverick32984

In perhaps one of the longest policy battles ever, an amendment introduced by Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) to strike the provision from the Appropriations Bill authorizing drilling in a small section of ANWR passed despite the defection of seven Republicans: Senators Chafee, Coleman, Collins, DeWine, McCain, Smith, and Snowe.

Although the battle for drilling in ANWR is far from over, since the House bill doesn't have the same provision and, as such, a conference to reconcile the two bills followed by a second vote will take place, does this vote increase or decrease the influence of RINOs?

Question: On the Cantwell Amendment to strike section 201(a)(4) relative to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Chafee (R-RI), Coleman (R-MN), Collins (R-ME), DeWine (R-OH), McCain (R-AZ), Smith (R-OR), Snowe (R-ME).

The usual suspects once again. They are Republicans in name only. It never seems to matter how many senators we pick up in an election cycle when you have senators like the ones above. THEY SUCK!!

Santorum voted against cantwell's amendment, thus approving of ANWR drilling.

BTW, was that you on Quinn's show and Quinn played the hillary alarm clock.

All they have to do is play that hillary "I am sick and tired" tirade in a commercial, and people would rather hear nails being scratched along a blackboard.

Yes, I am Thom at The Ranch.

I was going to give him this other GREAT quote from Dennis Miller about Hillary, but didn't get it off in time.

"I think for me, the sickest and scariest kind of rage is the Hillary Clinton kind of rage. You know, the perpetual permafrost smile she wears that's hiding a well of fury deeper than Barry White's voice during a bout of pneumonia."

Hummmhaaa, as Myron Cope would say. You should be a detective. ;-)

I mention FR on the air as often as I can with him. He receives around 5-10 threads from here every day from me. He knows FR is KING!

He is particularly proud to read this (originally from the L.A. Times) with humor on the air about FR's power and diligence and Rathergate.

"That's not to say the documents didn't deserve examination."But apparently the entire thing was cooked up by a couple of amateurs on Free Republic. The speed with which it moved was breathtaking.”

I see that Dewine from Ohio voted against drilling in ANWR. That SOB will never get my vote again. What is it with fricken Ohio - Land of the RINOS! Bob Taft is as bad as McCain.

How I wish that Texas and Louisiana could cut off our gas and oil to the states these RINO losers come from! I'd love to see the northeast senators and McCain's Arizona voters riding their bicyles to work every morning. It surely gets cold up in the NE in the winter and sure gets hot in AZ in the summer. I don't think they'd be re-elected.

Coleman has said, since before he was elected, that he was against ANWR. I am not sure of the reason, but when a Senator sticks to his convictions it doesn't upset me too much. McCain, on the other hand pisses me off.

I also have a feeling (no proof) that had they needed Coleman's vote he would have voted with us. He has come through in the end before. He seems to be a strong supporter of President Bush, and I think he would have done everything in his power to not be the deciding vote.

Why did the Democrats from Hawaii voted for it? Doesn't sound like something they are interested in.

Guess how much of this ANWR oil is going to end up in Japan? You will be amazed... A great amount of Alaskan oil is exported there now.

My guess is that she just forgot what 'yes' and 'no' mean.

And you would be mistaken. Do a little research and let us know what you would find.
