Why did the Democrats from Hawaii voted for it? Doesn't sound like something they are interested in.

Have you seen the price of gas in Hawaii?

I just want the RNC to support different Republicans in their primaries. They need to realize that sticking with lberal or moderate incumbents leads to actions like Spectors.

yeah, I didn't understand that either.

I also like how 49 other states are trying to "protect" (aka, hinder growth of) Alaska from drilling on itself. what does a hippie in New England care about the ANWR. i was watching something on FOX the other day, and the moderator asked the Dim how many times he's visited the ANWR. "None," he replied, followed with a "and how many times have YOU been there?" Moderator "Twice, actually." It was hilarious.

Point is, we have the support of the two senators FROM Alaska. Yeah, they happen to be Republicans, but the majority of ALASKANS support drilling too. So why is there even a debate?

The explanation I have heard is that there's some sort of alliance between the Hawaiian Senators and the Alaksan Senator on issues that directly effect either state. Ted Stevens was pushing very hard for ANWR.

The only explanation I heard is that gas is very expensive in Hawaii and voting for ANWR would make it seem like they're doing something about it.

Why did the Democrats from Hawaii voted for it?

Theres been a few reason cited, mostly that the senators from Alaska and Hawaii have a gentlemens agreement to help each other out, i.e. pork, and other stuff that is wanted by the state.

But alot of libs think that the GOP may have used a threat of a baseclosing in Hawaii or with holding of some kind of pork to get them to play ball.

What the hell has John McCain done besides screw up the election process.

McCain may be a hero but he has not been much of a Republican hero lately.

Guess how much of this ANWR oil is going to end up in Japan? You will be amazed... A great amount of Alaskan oil is exported there now.
