RICHMOND, Va. The American Civil Liberties Union urged a federal appeals court today to reinstate a lawsuit challenging a state law that scuttled plans for a nudist camp for children last summer.
U-S District Judge Richard Williams ruled the lawsuit was moot because organizers of the nudist camp withdrew their permit application after the law took effect.
But A-C-L-U attorney Rebecca Glenberg argued today that organizers still want to conduct the nudist camp for teens at White Tail Park this year and in future years. She said the new law makes that difficult.
The law requires parental supervision at nudist camps for juveniles. Glenberg says only eleven of the 35 children who planned to attend last year's camp would have been able to bring a parent or guardian.
TO establish that I am not a prude, NO S##T SHERL#CK!!!!!!!!!!
You gotta be kidding!
If anything like this actually comes to fruition, then ALL involved should be brought up on charges.
That's not what the story said. The ACLU wants the organizers to have a camp where parents would not be required to be present. I'm not a nudist but I know enough about naturalism to know that it's not about perversion and sex; and I doubt that youth from families that practice nudism find seeing other youth nude more sexy than other teenagers find each other, especially the girls wearing sexy/slutty clothes; I would not be surprised to learn that these kids had less sex than their peers. Those who want to live in a "free republic" should be on the side of the ACLU and the nudists in this case, rather the government busybodies who feel the need to regulate everything.
Moral Absolutes Ping.
I don't think this really needs any comments. Do it yourself time.
Blecchhh.
Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.
True, at least in "traditional" nudism. But then, traditionally, it was always a family thing. I wonder how long the 'teen only' nudism camps have been around.

After what I have seen of the ACLU, it will be a cold day before I end up on their side. But then I don't like the government either, so, in this case, I am torn.
FR has a large prurient contingent who think kids are safer supervised by a Catholic priest than a nudist.
With their big victories on the homosexual marriage front.. they are more ambitious and motivated in challenging other cultural norms.
If they were to pass into law all of their policies it would lead to almost anarchy. Only one rule, no Christianity!
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where [art] thou?
Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I [was] naked; and I hid myself.
Gen 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou [wast] naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
You nailed it. Far to many of the clowns who jabber on this web site are hypocrites. I was a practicing nudist for about 12 years, I never saw anyone drunk, no drugs, no one was ever raped, sex on the premises was un heard of, and crime according to the local police Dept. was unheard of. The only time we had any problems was when an outsider was allowed on the premises and they were always watched and if ther was any inappropriate behavior they were thrown out on there bare butt pronto. I took my little girl there for many years and she has grown into a wonderful woman who loves and respects her body and is as normal as anyone, with out the nude hangups of far to many in our society. I am a Libertarian pco and truly believe in freedom and smaller government unlike many of those who freak went this web site who no doubt think the Republicans will deliver us a smaller less intrusive form of government. Ha! That will be the day.
This idiots will go to any extreme to get some attention.

Since you have experience in the nudist world, I have to ask -- have these 'teen only' nudist camps been around for a long time? I always thought it was a very family-oriented sort of practice that would not be inclined to segregate the teens into their own camps.
Public nudity is a matter of culture. Public nudity is not "mainstream" American culture, which is why there are "nudist camps" (as opposed to nudists on the public square), and both-sex bathrooms are one-person-at-a-time affairs. The ACLU's objective is to raise hell, so they oppose anything that is part of traditional American culture. As far as nudity goes, my own guess is that the majority of Americans look better with more clothes, rather than few to none.
Your point being?
The ACLU is doing everything they can to tear down all morality in the U.S..
