Blake began his career in 1939 at age six playing Mickey in MGM's Our Gang comedies (credited on screen as Mickey Gubitosi), rounding out the '40s portraying the plucky Indian boy "Little Beaver" in another popular movie series, Red Ryder.

Young Robert Blake made seven to twelve films a year for eight years straight, but, all during that time, the youngster led a desperate life - the victim of a drunken, violent stepfather who would beat him and his brother, sister, and mother mercilessly at night.

As he grew into his teens, movie roles came much less frequently. In his twenties, Robert Blake moved into television where he could pick up supporting roles on shows like Fireside Theater. He became a frequent guest on the many western series of the '60s, just as his Red Ryder theatrical shorts and Our Gang comedies were finding new life in TV syndication.

The Our Gang Curse

Hmmm... Actually, Spanky was played by George McFarland, not Robert Blake.

Discovered at age three, George "Spanky" McFarland became a regular in the Our Gang film series during the 1930's and 1940's.

Appearing in 95 film shorts during his eleven year tenure, "Spanky" played the role of the enterprising, take-charge kid. His mother is credited with giving him his memorable nickname of "Spanky" which originated from her repeated warnings of what he would get should he venture into trouble.

At the end of January 1994, "Spanky" received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, becoming the only Our Gang member to be awarded this honor.

Robert Blake played "Mickey" (Gubitosi).

Wasn't Blake in the movie about two guys who murdered a family in Kansas or somewhere like that. In Cold Blood, I think was the name of the movie.

My take is this. Blakely deserved to be bumped off; she was a scum bag. Likewise, Blake should do time simply for being an annoying personage.

For somebody who has no words and proclaims themselves 'speechless', that was one helluva post.

It was a Peggy Hill moment.

I predict that he will be found guilty.

I think he'll get off. My guess is that the jurors got a real good picture of his slimey "wife". She was something else!

You know...it's weird, but I kind of feel the way Hildy does on this. Not that I want him to get away with murder if he did it (it seems from what I know he did), but I can't work up getting upset if he's found not guilty.

I'm not *hoping* for a not guilty verdict. I'm curious what the verdict will be.

My prediction: not guilty on charge 1 (murder), hung on charge 2 (solicitation), guilty on charge 3 (solicitation).
