Bush Recommends Wolfowitz to Head World Bank

By William Branigin Washington Post Staff Writers Wednesday, March 16, 2005; 11:47 AM

President Bush said today he is nominating Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul D. Wolfowitz to be the next president of the World Bank, tapping one of his administration's most controversial figures as the U.S. choice to head the 184-nation institution.

Bush confirmed the recommendation of Wolfowitz at a news conference this morning after a senior administration official had disclosed that the president was putting the name forward. The official said Wolfowitz wants the job and that no one has yet been chosen to replace him at the Pentagon.

Bush revealed his choice in response to a question at the press conference, an unusual way for a president to first make public such a nomination.

What's "BFEE"?

It's the "Bush Family Evil Empire". It's an acronym the loons and conspiracy nuts over on sites like DU like to use. They blame this so-called "BFEE" for everything under the sun.

Subj: WORLD BANK NOMINATION & GENERAL INFO

1. A special congratulations to Paul Wolfowitz (aka MLNEZ #3) on being nominated to head the World Bank. Our ever-more-powerful conspiracy is moving up in the world! I wish Paul the best of luck in his new position.

2. As a result of the vacancy in the MLNEZ #3 position, we will be conducting an "internal hire" effort. If interested, please submit a resume to Marsha in Human Resources.

3. Softball league signups are underway--see Deputy Assitant MLNEZ #98 if you're interested.

4. If the weather stays nice (subtle hint to Deputy MLNEZ #71--quit playing around with the weather control machine, already) we're looking to have a picnic April 2nd, out in Area 51. We're going to have UFO rides for the kids, so bring the family.

Sincerely,

MLNEZ #5

Your deliberate misquoting of one of the greatest Americans who ever lived; the man who, next only to Washington himself, contributed the most to there even being a United States of America today, is beneath contempt.

If you can't answer a man's argument, either admit as much, or at least have the common decency to keep silent. Smearing the honored dead is not an option for an honorable man.

I like Wolfowitz. He is intelligent, tough, and well spoken. That said, what does the Worldbank do? How does it do it and with whose money? I don't remember depositing any checks into the Worldbank. Why is the president involved?
This is a gap in my education.

I never think of the Three-fifths Compromise as an insult to black Americans...it does not state that black people are only 3/5th human...what it states is that every black resident/slave, who at the time was not counted as a citizen, would be counted as 3/5th of a citizen/resident for purposes of representation in the House of Representatives...twisting the intent of the law always sounds so self righteous...slavery itself was evil...no need to exagerate...it's overkill.

The 3/5 rule was a device to overrepresent slave states in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College. Whites in slave states got extra clout because their slaves were counted at the rate of 3/5 to one towards determining the state's representation.

Those at the Constitutional Convention who opposed slavery did not want slaves counted at all. Counting them at a rate of 1 to 1 would not have been an acknowledgement of the slaves' humanity but a gift of clout to their masters. It could well have extended the life of the peculiar institution into the twentieth century.

The 3/5 rule had nothing whatever to do with the recognition or non-recognition of the humanity of slaves. The question was whether the free white population should have more power at the federal level in some proportion to the number of slaves in the state.

In effect, the slave owners were insisting that they were a potentially persecuted minority and needed extra protection. This concession became the foundation of the Democratic Party's power in the first half of the nineteenth century. Thus the Dems have always been the party of groups claiming special privileges from the rest of society; they've just changed constituencies in the last half century.

Wolfowitz has shown such indiffierence or incompetence when it came to our military, Bush should have removed him long ago. But agree with the poster who said he is better than Bono.

Dr. Wolfowitz is a certifiable genius. Like Dr. Rice, he also has a doctorate.

Anyway, Dr. Rice and Dr. Wolfowitz are the two resident foreign policy gurus in President's Bush's administration.

Seeing how successful Dr. Wolfowitz was in the liberation of Iraq (yes, there were a few labor pains, but that was to be expected - it is not nearly as bad as the MSM paints it), he does deserve recognition. And this is President Bush's way of giving him recognition.

All True Freepers are expected to do their duty & support this nomination..

Those who would love to discredit the ideas of Thomas Jefferson often resort to your tactics, that of attacking the character of a dead man.

What's your deal, hate the constitution?

Incidentally, the DNA 'evidence' only indicates a member of Jeffersons family. At the time the children in question were sired, Thomas Jefferson was an old man confined to his bed by bad health. He did however have a nephew who liked the 'brown sugar' however.

Your bullcrap smearing of a great man demonstrates your own worthlessness nicely.

It seems to me to me that future Republican presidents should seriously consider that the MSM should be considered as already dead.

That certainly is one theory. The evolution of the internet, talk radio over the last decade of course being the factor.

But also consider that we may only be seeing the MSM at half propaganda speed -- not operating up to its full propaganda potential. Remember, how much in control the Clinton's were of the MSM up until 2000. Assuming that they retain that control and that they still have the same media contacts, do you really think that they'd be going after the Republicans in 2004 at full tilt when the a Clinton's wasn't running. More likely they would wait until Hillary is ready to run.

Also remember how the MSM was relatively quiet during the Contract with America campaign in '94. Then remember how the propaganda machine turned on the dime the day Newt and his friends got elected. The Clintons got their bogeyman elected in 94 -- Newt, then they carried out the most vicious and successful propaganda plan I've ever seen in '95.

Hillary will run in 2008 and the MSM propaganda machine will return in full force. Then we'll see if they are still able to propagandize successfully or if they are indeed -- dead.
