Cal has it right. How can these people not see what the liberals are doing to them? Global warming is scam. People that know the Lord should pray before they open their mouths and themselves up to ridicule. They make all christians look bad.

While I would agree on the matter of junk science, I wonder why Cal has omitted any mention of Christian stewardship herein.....

A "core group" of "influential" evangelical leaders

'Bet it doesn't include conservative evangelicals.

I believe that the term "Evangelical" is being grossly misused. It seems to be the in thing to be asscociated with evangelical's now. I have never heard of this people in the article. I am surprised that Cal did not point out that in his piece.

No, no, this is great! If liberals think evangelicals are FOR something, they'll surely want to be AGAINST it, no matter the reasoning, just out of sheer blind hatred. This might strike the biggest blow ever to the "Global Warming" nonsense.

Don't worry. That's going nowhere. The new evangelical movement will be more centered around:

1. The Baby-killing Courts
2. The Ten Commandments
3. The Pledge Allegiance
4. The National Endowment of the Arts

It will most likely be led by Jerry Falwell, if he can keep his health up. FReegards....

The Rev. Rich Cizik, vice president of governmental affairs for the National Association of Evangelicals, a Washington lobbying group....

Part of the good Reverend's problem may be his location. He needs to get out of there.

The Ronald Sider/Jim Wallis crowd is now and has been aligned with the Hillary Clinton wing of the Dem Party. They were the ones who were wowed by Baptist Bill and Methodrine Hill carrying bibles to their counseling sessions.

They're political liberals who have always been political liberals.

Who cares about the murder of a baby if a coral reef is being warmed? Is that what I hear?

"I don't think God is going to ask us how he created the earth, but he will ask us what we did with what he created."

Cal would do better to understand that this statement is true and reasonable. And you don't have to be Christian, either, to believe that we should take care of the earth.

No, the central question is how do you go about doing that? Not with bogus science and misallocated resources.

"I don't think God is going to ask us how he created the earth, but he will ask us what we did with what he created."

So, God won't care whether we believe or take seriously a clear and foundational — but unfashionable — part of His Word, so long as we buy into liberal orthodoxy.

Sell-out.

Cal is wrong and he distorts the facts to fit his message. Global warming is a scam, but these people have a right and a responsibility to weigh their views against their own religious standards and to act/vote accordingly. They do not make all Christians look bad. Not at all. They are deceived, but at least they are acting on their convictions. This is America. We used to all be free to do exactly that. There is no either/or in this. You can preach the gospel and be involved in politics.

Cal breaks this rule he sets up for others all the time. Is his column devoted to the gospel or to politics? A Christian can and should concern himself with both. Cal acts like he is the only person in the world capable of doing that.

Amen. Destruction of the earth will come from the hand of the Lord Himself, it's in the book. Unfortuneately, many Christians are sifting out the gnat and swallowing camels.

Like previous efforts - Prohibition in the 1920s

The evangelicals were rather successful with Prohibition, considering that they succeeded in amending the Constitution. It didn't work out well in the long run, but it was a resounding success of political organization.

>>Do evangelicals have time on their hands because they've finished the mission to "go and make disciples of all nations"? Is this not a great enough commission that "global warming" and a host of other "issues" must be added to make evangelicals contemporary and relevant?

LOL.. I think they are probably a few centuries behind the Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox, etc, in making disciples of all the nations...
