The woman who was held hostage in her apartment by the suspect in Atlanta's courthouse slayings came forward to give an account of her ordeal, saying he let her go after they bonded while discussing God, family, pancakes and the massive manhunt going on outside her apartment.

Yes, she said she does. She also said he needs to face the consequences for what he did.

I don't think they are really listening. One poster still thinks the escort deputy was shot in the face - something that was disproven two days ago.
Several? She had one chance during the time she followed him as he drove the truck and she did not want him to get away and harm others. She in fact took advantage of the first clear break and immediately called 9/11.
That's what this story reminds me of.
She had opportunities to extricate herself from the situation and didn't.
I hate sinners who massacre innocent people. Forgiveness is God's job, not mine.

I listened to Dennis Prager this morning (I'm on the West Coast). He praised the woman's actions but questioned her sympathy for the killer. As I was listening to his show, I began reading the different threads. I saw a huge groundswell of feeling for this woman - entirely natural, considering what she did. However, given the combination of her courageous acomplishment and her sympathy for the killer, I began to worry that this would lead to a country-wide sympathy movement for the killer. That is what prompted me to post this thread.
Still no mention of the victims and their families from you. But not to worry, he'll be getting 3 hot meals a day and access to a bible. Do you think his defiant attitude since his arrest is evidence of the "heart of God"?
She sympathizes with a cold blooded, misunderstood murderer. She said he had a human side. When he did what he did he was no longer fit to be in human society. Her sympathies should have been about the victims. They had a human side until Nichols put an end to it.
She was following her instincts and did what she felt she needed to do. No one else got hurt. Why do you have a problem with that?
If you haven't seen the press appearance she made (I saw it this morning on MSNBC) it is quite impressive.
She does not have a crush on him. She was not bragging. She was not a publicity hound.
Nobody is forgetting the horrific crimes Nichols committed, including Smith.
She recounted that he showed her Wilhelm's driver's license. She told him he had killed a 40 year old man who probably had kids and a wife (it turns out he has no children but is married, but the point was Smith made these points to Nichols). She told him he could turn his life to Christ and minister to people in jail (she told him he'd have to turn himself in and face the consequences of what he'd done) and could save more people than he killed. I'm not saying that's what he will end up doing. But that is what she said to him.
Nothing about getting away with anything. Nothing about excusing anything.
He asked her to visit him in jail and she said she would and I think she will keep her word. And it won't have anything to do with romance.
Some people don't understand this woman's actions. She's no different from Mother Theresa, the Pope, and the many christians suffering in the Sudan who forgive their captors and try to preach Christ Jesus to them.
