I'm worried that her sympathy for the killer will influence others to feel the same way.

I think the lady did what Christ commanded us to do. She loved her enemy. She did not resist an evil person. She shared about God with him. She read from "the purpose drien life" to him. She trusted God to save her from this guy.

Now if she had just shot the guy to death most of the freepers around here would have been sending her $25 for her defense fund. (probably holding out of their church tithe) :)

I think it's a remarkable story and I think it hits a lot of people here right between the eyes.... that maybe.... we can trust God to protect us and we don't have to do it ourselves with a 357.

She's playing the martyr card for all it's worth. It's about poor Mr.Nichols. And look how brave I am. Of course she was brave, she had that option, his victims didn't.

She needs a therapist to get over her protecting feeling for Mr. Nicholes. They are not warranted for a cold blooded murderer as he.

Yours is the first negative post I've seen. But rather than negatively addressing the subject of the post you chose to be negative about Free Republic.

The murderer has been bragging about his killings today and defiant and proud, according to reports. For some reason, no one wants to discuss that here today. Maybe he needed more pancakes. I guess it's sexier for Christians to naively think the quadruple murderer is saved than to spend energy comforting the mourners of the dead. This guy is eating hot meals and watching his prowess on the telly while real human beings are sick in the stomach as they put their dad and mom in the ground. She brought him in and that is wonderful. But she needs to keep her thoughts private about what a poor misunderstood fellow this "brother-in-Christ" is. Everyone pray hard tonight for the myriad of people whose lives are forever marred by this sick beast.

More than one person has suggested that the meeting between Nichols and Smith was less than serendipitous.

She might try to plead for his life, I wouldn't be surprised. But really, he's in the hands of a justice system now where there really aren't a lot of options for him.

You've really mucked up a great story that you might have enjoyed more if you hadn't tried to fit her into a politic. Sometimes life is just to be watched.

In the same vein that the DUers think the White House released the Bush memos to Dan Rather.

Bull. She's simply telling the story. She is a Christian. Christians hate the sin and love the sinner. Your interpretation of her says a lot about you.

Thank you for this, but why did she follow him, ( to ditch his car) when she could have fled and called the police then and there?

If she is getting over it like it looks like, she is a mentally strong woman. Time must pass before she knows if this is all the lingering effects it had on her. She may have a delayed reaction. Thank God her child wasn't home.

In this case, yes. But sometimes God brings the sword. Or do you suggest prayer vigils in Osama's cave?

If these same armchair quarterbacks would take the time to listen to or read a comple story, they would know that, yes, she does have custody of her little girl. She was two days into a move and her family and church were helping her out with child care while she got their new home unpacked and set up. I am a divorced single parent. When my daughter and son were little, I had to move twice. Each time the kids stayed with my mom and dad while I did the work of moving, as well as dragged my behind to the job that was paying our bills. If something as horrific as this whole episode had happened to me, its extremely sad to realize that someone.....several someones in fact, would be on FR speculating about why my kids weren't with me that particular day.

It's the victims she should be focusing on.

All she can do is tell her story, that's what people are interested in, and she told her story for a fascinating hour, though you'd never guess that by the way people are focusing on about 30 seconds of it.

.... perhaps it's the victims YOU should be focusing on. She told her whole story, off the cuff, if she's being quoted in part by people trying to play something, that's not her doing.

I haven't mucked up a great story. In case you haven't noticed, most of the people on this thread disagree with me.

And your response says a lot about you. I'm really glad it wasn't one of your family members who was murdered by Mr. Nichols.

Sometimes if you turn the other cheek, the other side of you face gets slapped too.
