Onyx's husband fell thru a glass door and severed an artery in his arm this morning. He almost bled to death while waiting for 911 to come, but they made it.
They've been at the hospital since noon, with him in and out of surgery. They are back in surgery now, with 3 surgeons trying to repair a lot of torn and severed veins and archeries. He's lost a lot of blood, they've given him 6 pints so far.
It's very complicated, but those are the basics.
Post #67 with an update also!
Dear onyx, what a terrible accident. You and your husband are in our prayers.
LOL! Yeah, she did sound like she was running on adrenalin when I talked to her on the phone.
Prayers for Onyx and Husband.

i am so sorry to hear this!!! onyx, i am praying for your hubby to stablize and have a complete recovery. i also pray that you have the stamina for the recovery process.
May the Good Lord bless and watch over this family. In Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.
Prayers for successful surgery and full recovery.
Prayerful bump...
Her two sons are with her husband in ICU Recovery right now, her hubby told her to go home and get some sleep. He is in stable condition. Onyx thought it was a good sign that he told her to go home.
His blood pressure had dropped pretty far during surgery due to the blood loss, but the doctors got it back up to normal. She said that the doctors have stitched up everything but his biceps.
Onyx just noticed in the last hour or so that she is completely covered in blood and wondered why she had not noticed it before. She said it sort of brought to mind how Jackie Kennedy must have felt so long ago.
She mentioned that the 911 operator demanded that Onyx talk to her, while Onyx was trying to listen to her husband's instructions so that Onyx could stop or at least slow down his blood flow. His arm was nearly detached in the fall.
The 911 operator dispatched paramedics from a very distant location which meant that there was a 17 minute wait until the ambulance arrived.
Yet, there is a Fire Dept. station with paramedics located blocks from Onyx' house. While waiting and trying to stop her husband's blood loss, Onyx said her husband started losing consciousness.
Onyx said she is concerned about the blood all over the house. I suggested that she focus on getting sleep now and leaving the cleanup until later so that she can return to the hospital well rested today.
Onyx somehow held it all together from early Sunday morning and was able to save her husband's life. I asked her if she had cried yet, because while listening to her, I started getting choked up.
She said that she had been too busy trying to save her husband but thought that "maybe when things calm down," or when she "really starts thinking about what happened" she thought that maybe then she'll "fall to pieces." Somehow, I doubt very much that will happen. She's one strong lady.
Onyx said that she is very grateful to everyone for their prayers and to be sure and thank everyone.
Prayers on the way for Onyx and her dear hubbie and family.
May God provide strength, comfort, and perseverance to this family through the difficult days ahead.
Prayers for Onyx and her dear husband.
Holy Cow...hope he is better soon. /what a freak accident.
onyx, of course I ( and my small family ) are pulling for you. On the practical side, may I suggest you consider hiring professional cleaners? They can handle it better.
It's normal to fall apart after the crisis has passed- I've done it many times, myself. Get some rest, then go again.
Prayers going up for both of you onyx. May the healing and recovery be speedy and uneventful.
Prairie
Thanks.......
