The robustly liberal actor dismisses Internet rumors he plans to run against Connecticuts conservative Democratic senator, Joe Lieberman. "Itd be lunatic to try to get into politics at my age. I dont think Id have the stomach for it."
But he says he is worried by the policies of the Bush administration.
"I wish I felt a little more comfortable about the direction that were going," Newman said carefully. "It does not seem to be of the people, by the people and for the people. It seems to be about something else completely different.
"I think part of it is the medias fault for not being more aggressive and persistent and nasty and I think its the peoples fault for not paying attention. Thats not a good combination. It allows people in government to do pretty much what they want."

Clint is in his 70's....
that's old by most people's standards
And your cereal with dried and tasteless blue berries is the worst ever breakfast cereal I've ever tried. Stick with acting, forget the political commentary and drop the food business--the latter two ain't your forte.
"I like him as an actor but he seems to have let his newspaper subscription lapse."
I think the less you know of an actor's political pursuasions the better. I actually liked Ed Asner until I heard his politics now I'll leave the room if he's on. I like the old Newman flicks...

So what exactly is it about Paul? This type of rhetoric is is fodder for democrats and shows hows a talented actor knows nothing about politics, save his own liberal opinion.
Paul, Paul, Paul, I loved seeing you in Technicolor back in the '50s and '60s, but...
All those 6-packs you imbibed over the years have finally caught up with you.
You want nasty media? You donated $1,000,000 to "The Nation", that old pinko rag, to keep it going since no one's buying copies of it anymore.
And you and your daughter Nell's foods? I heard her on a radio interview a few years ago saying that she donates the proceeds to litigation. So when I buy your stuff, I'm really paying for radical lawyers.
So Paul, retire to your upscale town (Westport, CT), and leave the rest of us alone.
It's amazing to me that people on this board love to put down people like Newman because they're 'Hollywood' but then lionize fakes like Rush. Newman doesn't make a dime off his pasta sauce, dressings and popcorn because he donates all the profit to a charity for children. He has also been married to the same woman for about 50 years. Rush on the other hand has been divorced three times, has no children and I could be wrong but I have never heard of him being linked significantly to any worthwhile charity. Oh yea, and Rush is a drug addict. I'll take Newman any day over Limbaugh.
Wrong....Its not age, its stupidity...See..ghostthegeneral!
Rush Limbaugh has nothing to do with this story.

Since you are the one that brought Rush into this thread I would say that is hypocritical.
Huh. Only thing I can find wrong with the direction is that it's too much in libbers like Newmans direction. Guess that makes W a moderate and me a right wingerr.
There are many movies I used to enjoy that I now will not watch because an actor in the movie has expressed hatred for this country. It's not so much a conscious choice that I will not watch this or that actor, I just now no longer see them as the character they are portraying but as themselves.
What..we got heah, is failya.. ta communicate...
Actors are actors and not necessarily sane.
"I wish I felt a little more comfortable about the direction that were going"
It's all about feelings....
Maybe some of these old farts and libbers were so traumatized by 9-11 that they simply disassociated -- blocked it out. In their world, every day is 9-10-2001 and the world is grand and there's nothing better to do of a fine afternoon than have a few drinks and bash George DoubleyaBush...
