"It does not seem to be of the people, by the people and for the people."

And of course things were much better when the Democrats were in power, trying to subvert the Second Amendment at every turn. No worries then. </sarcasm>

LOL--Newman's no spring chicken, but he doesn't look that bad ... does he?

And your cereal with dried and tasteless blue berries is the worst ever breakfast cereal I've ever tried. Stick with acting, forget the political commentary and drop the food business--the latter two ain't your forte.

"I like him as an actor but he seems to have let his newspaper subscription lapse."

I think the less you know of an actor's political pursuasions the better. I actually liked Ed Asner until I heard his politics now I'll leave the room if he's on. I like the old Newman flicks...

"I wish I felt a little more comfortable about the direction that we’re going," Newman said carefully. "It does not seem to be of the people, by the people and for the people. It seems to be about something else completely different.

So what exactly is it about Paul? This type of rhetoric is is fodder for democrats and shows hows a talented actor knows nothing about politics, save his own liberal opinion.

Paul, Paul, Paul, I loved seeing you in Technicolor back in the '50s and '60s, but...

All those 6-packs you imbibed over the years have finally caught up with you.

You want nasty media? You donated $1,000,000 to "The Nation", that old pinko rag, to keep it going since no one's buying copies of it anymore.

And you and your daughter Nell's foods? I heard her on a radio interview a few years ago saying that she donates the proceeds to litigation. So when I buy your stuff, I'm really paying for radical lawyers.

So Paul, retire to your upscale town (Westport, CT), and leave the rest of us alone.

It's amazing to me that people on this board love to put down people like Newman because they're 'Hollywood' but then lionize fakes like Rush. Newman doesn't make a dime off his pasta sauce, dressings and popcorn because he donates all the profit to a charity for children. He has also been married to the same woman for about 50 years. Rush on the other hand has been divorced three times, has no children and I could be wrong but I have never heard of him being linked significantly to any worthwhile charity. Oh yea, and Rush is a drug addict. I'll take Newman any day over Limbaugh.

Re #7...Paul Newman's quite elderly, and with that comes confusion, we should be compassionate when dealing with our seniors and their dementia!^}

Wrong....Its not age, its stupidity...See..ghostthegeneral!

Rush Limbaugh has nothing to do with this story.

Since you are the one that brought Rush into this thread I would say that is hypocritical.

Well let me tell you that Rush for many years has raised money for the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, Also raises money for Leukemia Research, I think.
Also several years ago he wanted to help raise money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Foundation but was told that they did not want "Tainted" Conservative money.
So Rush has been involved in raising money for charities.
As to his personal life I have no comment.
But as someone who has been in a number of depositions concerning people with severe and I mean severe back pain and would do anything for some kind of relief I do not fault Rush for his prescription pill dependency.
If you had that kind of back pain believe me you would almost sell your soul for some kind of relief.
So ease up a little.

Huh. Only thing I can find wrong with the direction is that it's too much in libbers like Newmans direction. Guess that makes W a moderate and me a right wingerr.

I agree with you.

There are many movies I used to enjoy that I now will not watch because an actor in the movie has expressed hatred for this country. It's not so much a conscious choice that I will not watch this or that actor, I just now no longer see them as the character they are portraying but as themselves.

It's all about feelings....

Maybe some of these old farts and libbers were so traumatized by 9-11 that they simply disassociated -- blocked it out. In their world, every day is 9-10-2001 and the world is grand and there's nothing better to do of a fine afternoon than have a few drinks and bash George DoubleyaBush...
