I agree with you.

There are many movies I used to enjoy that I now will not watch because an actor in the movie has expressed hatred for this country. It's not so much a conscious choice that I will not watch this or that actor, I just now no longer see them as the character they are portraying but as themselves.

Jane Fonda is actually a wonderful actress... but there's no way I can watch her work. Same with Susan Surandon and Alec Baldwin, (although he usually plays characters that you dislike anyway). Great actors but it's impossible not to be biased when you watch their work.

I think the most repugnant is Chevy Chase. If you go back and look at the body of his work, in my opinion a strong anti-christian theme runs throw most of it.

I think as an actor you should be careful not to "show your cards" regardless of your political affiliation. In fact the more mysterious you are in that regard sometimes the more the draw.

I agree with you about avoiding certain actors because of their lefty politics, but that's tough for me to do with Newman. He's made some GREAT movies in his time--Cool Hand Luke, Hombre, Butch & Sundance, Hud ... I won't let a an actor's politics dicate what I watch and what I won't watch. JMHO.
