Update: The businessperson who, through attorney Gloria Allred, has offered Michael Schiavo a million dollars to walk away will be on Hannity & Colmes tonight, Thursday - March 10, 2005 at 9.00pm ET (GMT-5).
Although the actual headline reads "comatose woman," and since Terri Schiavo is not comatose, I've made the appropriate correction in the title of this post, nevertheless, the headline is interesting. But I doubt it will have much of an affect on Michael Schiavo since he can't spend the money in jail should Terri receive therapy and recover sufficiently to tell us how she sustained all of those broken bones. Until and unless he accepts the offer, it's a just another new whisper in the wind.
Though my tinfoil hat is just around the corner, your assessment may not be far from the truth. This is THE most insidious trio ever -- Schiavo, Felos and Greer .. they are truly sociopathic in their aversion to giving Terri any chance at life. It's almost demonic. Felos is playing this part for all he's worth .. he's on a mission to be the leading judicial authority on the "right to die," and of course publish his book, maybe be the focus of a movie, and fill his pockets with the residue of shattered lives. Wonder what will be on his tombstone.
I'm sure the Schindlers would be more than willing to sign a unconditional release of any potential claims to sue him in exchange for him releasing guardianship and divorcing/annulling his marriage to Terri. I just don't believe he has any good will left in him to allow him to do the right thing.
Right .. he's hung out to dry on this one, but the publicity is great. More people need to hear Hannity tonight, and this total stranger's plea for her life and the reasons. God Bless Him for his courage and mercy. God Bless Terri!
I'm not sure this is such a greet move.
To me this is like negotiating with a terrorist for his hostage. Once you set the precedence there will be a lot of others sickos trying to get rich by threatening to do the same with as Michael Schiavo.
The other alternative is that when there is no living will a precedence will have been set to deny life. Right to life will give way to the right to kill.
Also on Hannity & Colmes tonight: Senator "Sheets" Byrd!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
I have to agree that Schiavo is probably too far gone, and there is more than his greed fueling these engines.
Still, we can all be thankful that someone who can, has stepped forward and made the offer we would all like to make on Terri's behalf.
Well this seems like a good time to serve up the Starfish story...
Once upon a time there was a wise man
who used to go to the ocean
to do his writing.
He had a habit of walking
on the beach
before he began his work.
One day he was walking along
the shore.
As he looked down the beach,
he saw a human
figure moving like a dancer.
He smiled to himself to think
of someone who would
dance to the day.
So he began to walk faster
to catch up.
As he got closer, he saw
that it was a young man
and the young man wasn't dancing,
but instead he was reaching
down to the shore,
picking up something
and very gently throwing it
into the ocean.
As he got closer he called out,
"Good morning! What are you doing?"
The young man paused,
looked up and replied,
"Throwing starfish in the ocean."
"I guess I should have asked,
why are you throwing starfish
in the ocean?"
"The sun is up and the tide is going out.
And if I don't throw them in they'll die."
"But, young man, don't you realize that
there are miles and miles of beach
and starfish all along it.
You can't possibly make a difference!"
The young man listened politely.
Then bent down, picked up another starfish
and threw it into the sea,
past the breaking waves and said-
"It made a difference for that one."

Thanks for the heads up... I just pinged my FoxFan list here.
Of course Gloria Allred is in California. Los Angeles, I believe. Where else could she be? (signed, a Californian). I saw her contact info listed on BlogsforTerri.com.
No way will the douchebag take the money, but God bless Mr. Herring for the offer.
How long does $1,000,000 last for somebody in the intensive unit care... ? 1 month ??
If someone finds a way to contribute to the fund, please ping me.
There are a lot of charges which could be brought against Michael.
He has breached his obligations as her trustee and as her guardian -- this all within the past few years -- and he has arguably abused Terri within the past few years.
She's in a hospice, not intensive care and she shouldn't even be in the hospice. She could be in her parents' home.
He has breached his obligations as her trustee and as her guardian -- this all within the past few years -- and he has arguably abused Terri within the past few years.
What stops those charges from being filed anyway? They could always be dropped if he accepted the money and change of guardianship. Her folks ought to file those suits, it might give a little more bargaining power to the Million dollar offer.
The Schindlers' attorney, Gibbs, has attempted to file them. Judge Greer tossed them out.
BTTT
Thnx nutmeg! Please ping us if and when her husband makes a decision.
If Terri were to tell what went on when she was in the room alone with Michael, I suspect at least two murder attempts could be pinned on him.
