Nearly a decade ago, just a few months after Microsoft shipped Windows 95, I asked Bill Gates if it was a conscious decision in the development of that product to give Windows more of a Mac look and feel. Of course I knew he'd say it wasn't, but I couldn't resist asking. "There was no goal even to compete with Macintosh," Gates proclaimed. "We don't even think of Macintosh as a competitor."
That was a crock, so I pressed the issue a little. I asked him how he accounted for the widespread perception that Windows 95 looked a lot like Mac 88, and whether the similarity was just a coincidence. I didn't expect a sobbing confession of mimicry, but I thought it would be cool to see how he'd respond. Surprisingly enough, Gates shifted gears and became more forthcoming.

Even more curious, MSFT's market cap is over $275,000,000,000.00 and AAPL's market cap is 33,000,000,000.00. It's interesting that Apple's relative market cap is far in excess of its relative percentage of the computer market.

; develop a fetish for oddly-colored plastic Get with the times, it's now a fetish for brushed aluminum, which I expect to be copied by the PC manufacturers soon.

That is meaningless unless you specify a task the computer is supposed to perform and any other mandated software requirements. In general, software for pretty much anything you want to do is available for the Mac.
That is not true by a long shot. The Mac is VERY weak in the realm of accounting software. My company runs on MAS 200, a popular client/server accounting app, and Macs will stay in the prepress ghetto because of gaping holes in their library. We do NOT run MS-Office, and there are not a lot of good alternatives in the Mac world for the basics, and of course, these are Microsoft products.

I believe that when I see them blocking the WMA format.
You think that Microsoft is blocking WMA from playing on iPods?!? Are you high?!? MS would love for Apple to play WMA on the iPod. Every damned MP3 player on the planet supports WMA except for iPod. Clue phone: Jobs wants AAC to be the dominant music format. That's why he hasn't added support for WMA to iPod. MS ain't blocking WMA. Apple is.

Macs don't even ship with a two-button scroll-wheel mouse. Get a optical USB optical scroll mouse for $8 bucks or so, or take it off the windows machine, and plug it into the USB port.

In my experience they are. YMMV obviously, but I have no need for PC games anymore. I'm not a big first person shooter fan and most of my PS2 games involve car racing or sports games.
My computers are there to supplement my progamming career/habit. If others want PC games, more power to them. I just have found I don't miss them at all.

"Especially since they are giving money to a known commie." Read Bill Gates recent statements about Communist China carefully -
"They're smart. ... They have this mericratic way of picking people for these government posts where you rotate into the university and really think about state allocation of resources and the welfare of the country and then you rotate back into some bureaucratic position ... This generation of leaders is so smart, so capable, from the top down, particularly from the top down." "... And measuring their efficiency against the best in the world which in my business will be the leaders in China."
Based on his enthusiastic praise for the Communist dictators of China, it's obvious that Bill Gates is a treasonous, anti-American scumbag. It's stupid for Americans to buy products from him.
"Gate's donations to Republicans FAR OUTWEIGHS Jobs'."
The fact is - Microsoft gave sixty percent of their corporate PAC donations to Democrats last year.
When you buy Microsoft products, you're selling out America!

And, as we've already discussed, you aren't administering your machines properly; so, it's no wonder you're having issues...One of the most common fictions of anti-Mac fanatics: PCs don't crash more than Macs because they're inferior----it's because people aren't smart enough to properly maintain their machines.
Sorry, but when I buy a computer it's because I want to use it, not spend my time "properly administering" it. I leave the joys of endless troubleshooting to PC owners.

My company runs on MAS 200, a popular client/server accounting app There are a lot of accounting and CRM packages available for OS X. And that's just OS X. Need server side accounting software? There are high-end BSD UNIX packages available (OS X is BSD at its core). And then there are the WebObjects/Java applications, which will also run on OS X.
MAS 200 isn't on the Mac and you need it, and only it? Re-read my words "any other mandated software requirements." But that doesn't have anything to do with the software base for the platform.

macworld.com tried installing a spybot in my computer when I went there. Wonder if it also does that to MAC's.

most software now is being developed to run primarily on Windows based PC Coincidentally, just today I set up a new machine for our secretary. She wanted an eMac. Since we do have both platforms, she could choose.
I have an image for the machines, so I burned the image, plugged it in, and mapped to her folder on a BSD samba server where she saved all her .doc files from her old '98 machine. She was working in Office mac in minutes.
I take no sides in this fight, since I work with all the different platforms, and find them all useful in their own way. Networking the machines, and compatibilty between most of the software that we use on a daily basis, is almost a non-issue for me.
A lot of people have macs at work and windows at home. They can use a pen drive to work on the same document.

Yeah, and I suppose Jobs's selling products in China meets your sniff test because it's "Apple"... Let me guess: No comment, right?
The fact is - Microsoft gave sixty percent of their corporate PAC donations to Democrats last year. When you buy Microsoft products, you're selling out America!
Yet another clue for you: Microsoft gives to whoever's in a position of power to influence their business. Redmond is located in a Democrat district in Washington state. Patty Murray. Gary Locke. Maria Cantwell. They also give to any Republican in a position to influence their business. Jennifer Dunn. Doc Hastings. Etc.
