Goodbye, Kitty?
If a firefighter from La Crosse gets his way, stray cats in Wisconsin could legally be blown from here to feline eternity. Not surprisingly, the proposal to allow the shooting of free-roaming cats has horrified cat lovers nationwide.
"This really crosses the line in human and cat relations," said Ted O'Donnell, owner of a pet supply store in Madison. He has set up a website called dontshootthecat.com. "I remember when firefighters used to rescue cats -- not shoot them."

Watch out, Viking Kitties shoot back!!
Viking Kitties aren't strays. They come from good homes and intelligent human support staffs.
OMG - this picture is just toooo funny - you made my day!!!!
This has already been "hashed out".
Maybe the Supreme Court should cite foreign law in this matter, because I know the animal rights wackos will be in a hissy fit. In Germany, if a cat is 200 meters out of a residential area it is considered predatory! Blast Away! MEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW...................BANG!
They also kill birds, or anything else that can get their paws on. If people want to keep cats that should keep them in the house of on a leash.
If more people were better about spaying and neutering there wouldn't be this problem of cats going wild because someone didn't want them.
I agree.
Yes! I once lived in a town that had lots of cats, all orange, due to a woman who bred them, moved, and when she moved she just left them outside. Hundreds and hundreds of cats later, the town poisoned them all. It was quite the treat to find dead cats everywhere! Some people had five or six on the front doorstep.
My daughter called last night very upset, after she saw a "snippet" about this, that was going to be shown on the 10 p.m. DENVER news...she thought it had to do with the Denver area and was near hysterics since her cat had just ran away two nights ago, and she thought someone was going to blow it smitherines! LOL
Bob Barker would agree
Why not a non-lethal deterrent, like a BB gun or a slingshot. Cats are smart enough to stay away from places they get their a$$es stung a few times.
Strays and ferile's are good 'fer nuthin... unless you own a farm. They'll cut down the rat and mouse population.
Stray dogs don't have ANYTHING good about'm.
Jeff Foxworthy: "I have two cats...one on either side of the fireplace."
Awww, so cute. LOL.
I wonder, what about wild dogs? And dogs that attack? Just recently in my area, a police officer responded to a 911 call and when he approached the house, a pit bull ran out and attacked him. Funny thing is, instead of shooting the dog, he shot himself in the leg (missed). Don't know how he did that. But I don't like wild dogs either. Whether they are someone's pet or running in the wild. I wish pet owners would not drop them off to be a burden on the rest of the neighborhood. Wild dogs are just as destructive as feral cats. Thanks for the laugh, I liked the kitty pic.

Fee: I wonder if animal rights activists would have a hissy to protect these feral cats (or any wild animal) if they were attacked by one?
