A joint Ethiopian-US team of palaeontologists announced on Saturday they had discovered the world's oldest biped skeleton to be unearthed so far, dating it to between 3.8 and four million years old.
"This is the world's oldest biped," Bruce Latimer, director of the natural history museum in Cleveland, Ohio, told a news conference in the Ethiopian capital, adding that "it will revolutionise the way we see human evolution".
The bones were found three weeks ago in Ethiopia's Afar region, at a site some 60 kilometres from Hadar where Lucy, one of the first hominids, was discovered in 1974. Researchers at the site in northeast Ethiopia have in all unearthed 12 hominid fossils, of which parts of one skeleton were discovered.
Do you think people won't even know how to click a link? Well, I guess creationism has to assume that its target audience is inept. That way, its lies have a chance of being believed.
"I know what Dennett meant!!"
He then continued to repeat the lies as true.
So, there's no need to confront the statement...it was a third-step lie from someone whose credibility rests in tatters.
I was arguing in terms of focus. When you look at how God speaks the rest of creation into being as to his more direct intervention and personal control over the creation of man you can't help but denote the change in personal focus.
God "sends forth his word into the empty places and they do not return to him void"; this seems to have been the case with the first 5 days of creation. But man was to be special and God was much more intensely involved with his creation.
That's all I was trying to say!
Right here post 159.
You're hallucinating (or lying) -- it was actually about new information being discovered.
and in less thn 50 posts you all used your magic to turn it into Christians lying.
Let me get this straight -- when a "Christian" actually lies on a thread, we're not supposed to comment on it?
Furthermore, I don't care if he's a "Christian" or not, nor is that the point that was being made. In fact, I strongly suspect that he's an anti-Christian troll, here to make conservatives look bad. And your behavior appears rather similar.
I bet if you all try real hard, you can get it down to 49 posts!
I'll bet that if you actually tried to make a valid point instead of just being sarcastic, you might provide something of greater value to these threads.
He already has, he's just trying to coyly pretend that he hasn't.
Yep. It's a harsh life of dashed dreams and thankless offspring for the wild animals. They live from day to day and today they watched the DJIA drop 100 points while gasoline rose 10 cents. It's very quiet and depressed in the forest today. Or maybe it's that it is above freezing the 4th day in a row, the sun is shining, and the squirrels and birds are just lazing in the trees.
take 3 oxycontin and post to me in the morning
I've never heard of Daniel Dennett before now. Thanks for pointing this out to me.
Um, *what*?!? Where in the heck did *that* come from, and how did you manage to fantasize that that's "where I'm coming from"? Hallucinate much?
You will never convince a Bible believing Christian that man is evolved from apes. A Christian will never convince an evolutionist that man is created by God without using the Bible.
Ah, I see you're incredibly ignorant of the fact that the *majority* of evolution-believing Americans are *CHRISTIANS*...
Sorry for puncturing your childish misconceptions.
Translation: You'll believe whatever you choose to believe, damn the facts, and any evidence or results to the contrary will be dismissed out of hand as "bought and paid for science".
For example, you'll believe any horrible thing about Dennett that pops into your head, regardless of how much it clashes with what Dennett has actually written.
That was their first mistake.
Get rid of the bible and there is no problem with evolution at any level.
but why stop there?
That would be a refreshing change.
If you think that the lockstep creationists, parroting the same discredited pap from the creationist books and pamphlets that they've been using for years, are "independent thinkers", you're flattering yourself but not being very honest.
The Constitution forbad establishment of religion...but we have one in the form of old fashioned darwinism-atheism.
Oh look, another goofy and transparently false Creationist Bumper Sticker Slogan that they've been using for decades. Evolutionary biology is science, son, not religion. Try to learn the difference.
What was that you were saying about allegedly being "independent thinkers"? My parrot shows greater originality.
Interesting that you've chosen to reposnd now that I have been shown the quote in question.
Let us not confuse the denizens of the Religion Forum with conservatives.
Too sweeping of a post. I withdraw.
