United Nuclear is currently in final testing, and will shortly be producing Hydrogen Fuel Systems & Hydrogen generators for several late model, fuel injected, Gasoline powered vehicles.
Powering a vehicle by Hydrogen is by no means a new idea, and in fact, almost all automobile manufacturers are currently developing a new generation of vehicles that run on Hydrogen as opposed to Gasoline. This new generation of vehicles are essentially electric cars that use a Fuel Cell instead of a battery to run the electric motor. Using a chemical process, Fuel Cells in these new vehicles convert the stored Hydrogen on board, and the Oxygen in the air, directly into electricity to power their electric motors. These new vehicles are very efficient, and in fact are more efficient than any internal combustion engine. The problem is that these new vehicles are years away from production, are very expensive, and converting to using Hydrogen fuel in this manner requires you to buy a new ( and expensive ) vehicle. All Hydrogen/Fuel Cell systems currently under development by large manufacturers have you purchase Hydrogen as you would Gasoline. Our system comes with its own "in-home" Hydrogen generator which allows you to manufacture fuel yourself at near zero cost. Our Hydrogen conversion is an intermediate approach that simply converts your existing vehicle to burn Hydrogen or Gasoline. The Gasoline fuel system remains intact and is not modified. This allows you to switch between running on Gasoline or Hydrogen at any time. The engine itself is only slightly modified, the conversion makes substantial changes to the computer & electrical system, ignition and cooling systems. Since they never have to be removed, Hydrogen fuel storage (Hydride tanks) can be installed in virtually any available space within the vehicle.

You guys should really read the whole article before commenting. I can't believe all the assinine statements, including yours, that have been posted on this thread. The fuel is not zero cost unless you use solar cells to generate the hydrogen. If you use your home current it is naturally going to add to your fuel costs. This is explained on the website if you would bother to go read it!
So you break down water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricty and then put the hydrogen into your vehicle where you combine hydrogen and oxygen back into water. You are wasting your time and money.
Exactly...hence my post saying that I was wrong and I stand corrected....
Geesh...ONCE AGAIN I ALREADY SAID I WAS WRONG!!! LOOK AT THE WRONG GUY>>>THAT'S ME! MR. WRONG! I ADMIT IT! I WAS WRONG!!
"He was my ride home"
"sorry"
"if we had a sane energy policy in the US, part of it would include a floor on the price of oil."
Yeah, that's right, we'll get the gov't to solve the problem. The gov't does things so well and so efficiently.
"So you break down water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricty and then put the hydrogen into your vehicle where you combine hydrogen and oxygen back into water. You are wasting your time and money."
Now that you have figure the complicated process of electrolysis, please inform us of the process used to get gasoline from the ground to the station and the process it goes through in the engine. I would guess that the process is much more grueling when compared to electrolysis. Its not a waste of YOUR time or money: its called research and development and its PRIVATE money.
Currently all the cars converted by United Nuclear have been done using private money compare this to the big three auto makers and you will learn that they have spent billions of TAXPAYER dollar and have come up with technology that wont be re-produced because of cost.

i saw a thing on it. There are alloys that can be put in a tank, then you pump the hydrogen in and it is soaked up by the alloy, then caused to release it. It sounded really interesting.
I hadn't thought of using Nukular power to create the hydrogen. What I cannot see is burning gasoline to create it. That's just the kind of stupidity I'd expect from the goobernment.
It's not research and development but rather a flawed understanding of thermodynamics. Private money does not make it true even though you may want it to be. Private money is good, wasting it because you don't understand thermodynamics is bad.
Or you could use photovoltaic paint to produce the heat, and help with the electricity. There are some great things on the drawing board. I sort of hope the price of oil stays up so we can say screw you to the ayrabs. However I'm a market kind of guy and if gasoline, which is a wonderful carrier of energy, remains the market leader, I ain't changing.
How nice to see this name. I just got through listening to the the Radio version of this again. It is truly inspired work!
If we see this come to fruition with the backing of the Bush Administration (whether directly or indirectly involved) during his term, man will the Democrats howl!
It's exciting stuff. I hope they can make it happen. Thanks for the info.
Bumping for later reading.
Promising on the fuel cells. But how did they solve embrittlement issues, I wonder?
As long as the path is short to the combustion chamber, the risk might be ( in case of mishap ), a hot flame, not an explosion. There would need to be some sort of safety system.
Every so often a company announces the new automotive product of the millenium. The promises seldom come true.
But I wish them well. Who knows?
Adding solar and or wind power to augment the line power would help reduce the increase in line power consumption you would experience running a hydrogen extraction machine. A well designed system would switch between solar/wind and line power as conditons and hydrogen needs warrant.
That theory has been tested and found to be invalid.
Thanks for the pointer. I'll give it a read.
Sorry Sir your statement is still a nonsense, solar cells can not generate hydrogen directly. and solar cells are expensive, so the direct or indirect cost of fuel will never be zero or even close to zero. I don't bother to read into any nonsense which defies laws of physics.
