SLAIN AGENT: I DON'T BELIEVE U.S. VERSION-COMMUNIST LEADER (AGI) - Rome, Italy, March 5 - "A day that was supposed to be happy changed into pain and anger. I don't believe a word of the American version. It's clear that they are trying to hide what really happened. The Americans deliberately shot at the Italians. It's huge," said the secretary of the Italian Communist Party, Oliviero Diliberto, commenting on what took place after the liberation of the journalist Giuliana Sgrena. Diliberto said that "the entire centre left (in Italy) should ask the withdrawal of our troops in Parliament. Enough with this servitude towards the United States." (AGI) - 051409 MAR 05
Latest news from the Communists in Italy.
Putting pressure on GW Bush for a "full investigation".
Also, count the number of times the US MSM today makes a reference to the journalist as a Communist, Anti-American Journalist, or how many times they cover the deeper issues over with Michael Jackson or Martha Stewart.
(Then again, maybe the Martha Stewart national 24/7 obsession is good timing!)
After all the media hype,
the truth:
Despite a phone call from U.S. President George Bush to Berlusconi, during which the American leader expressed regret and promised to investigate the incident, anger was not assuaged in Italy nor abroad."Another victim of an absurd war," said Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, leader of the Green Party.
A communist senator called for a demonstration in front of the U.S. Consulate in Milan.
A statement by multinational forces said U.S. troops tried to warn the occupants of the car carrying Sgrena as it sped toward a checkpoint in western Baghdad about 9 p.m. local time. U.S. troops "attempted to warn the driver to stop by hand and arm signals, flashing white lights, and firing warning shots in front of the car," the statement said. "When the driver didn't stop, the soldiers shot into the engine block, which stopped the vehicle."
U.S. official said two people were wounded, but Berlusconi said three were, including Sgrena, Calipari and another intelligence officer.
Sgrena was taken to a U.S. military hospital where she underwent a minor operation to remove a piece of shrapnel.

They ignore the 800 pound elephant in the room.
And that elephant is RED.
The value of independent blogs and news/discussion sites, will be played up even more in the next few days as we carry the TRUTH and the WHOLE PICTURE that the MSM ignores or fears running with.
Thanks, Freeper, for the version of TRUTH here, to follow the LIES of the Communists in Italy I just posted.
Yeah I'm sure a Communist will get down the the REAL truth. I mean they are know for being up front and open! BTW good shooting Marines!
The commies must be going nuts, what with all the freedom and democracy breaking out all over the world. Looks like they'll risk anything to turn the tide.
I don't know why Italy is whining. They are completely responsible for this incident.
"Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena returned home Saturday after being wounded by U.S. gunfire shortly after being released by her Iraqi captors. She told her colleagues at the daily Il Manifesto newspaper that she was never treated badly by her Iraqi abductors, the Italian news agency ANSA reported."
Connect the dots, folks.
Committed Communist, America-Hater and LIAR is 'captured' in Iraq by 'insurgents.....(dot!)........she is treated 'well'......(dot!)...and so terribly VIOLATED by the Americans....(dot!).....
Freepers and friendly lurkers, just keep linkin' those red Communist DOTS!
Here's a tip to Italians in Iraq - SLOW DOWN WHEN APPROACHING ARMED CHECKPOINTS!
Duh!
Yes, they should print these signs up and send to our USA troops on the front lines at those security check points.
Reminds me of the Japanese "hostages" who turned out to be co-conspirators--as I mentioned on another thread. (And was criticized for doing so.)
I could not help but notice the other day when the story was first reported, that the tv reporters did not mention right off, that this might be an accident and a mistake, reporting as if the US troops shot this woman on purpose.
No Loss,it was just a reporter.

"IN A LETTER TO BERLUSCONI, POPE CALLS SLAIN AGENT A HERO
(AGI) - Vatican City, March 5 - Nicola Calipari was "a faithful and heroic servant of the State who did not hesitate to sacrifice his life in the delicate task given to him," said the Pope in a message sent by Secretary of State Sodano to Prime Minister Berlusconi. (AGI) -

huh?
This happened about year ago.
Freepers will like the fact that about 75% of Japanese told them to get out of their face, to go ______ up a rope, when the "hostages" did get back to Japan. They were also fined by the conservative Government of Japan for the costs they incurred, and the three have since kept their anti-US, pro-Communist, pro-Islamofascist mouths SHUT! :-)
GUARANTEED!! You can take this to the bank!! On the Sunday talk shows and in press conferences on Monday, neocommunists Harry Reid and Nacy Pelosi and, maybe, Dips**t Dean will demand an investigation. It will be at the instruction of the Italian Communist Party and will sound exactly like this announcement. For this next week, the dems in Congress will be working for the Italian Communists!
and:
"SGRENA: ALEMANNO, PUNISH PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE
(AGI) - Tito Scalo (Pz), Italy, March 5 - Satisfaction for the release of Giuliana Sgrena and effort to find and punish the people responsible for the killing of Nicola Calipari. This is the opinion of Agriculture minister Gianni Alemanno, who spoke this morning at the third "Mostra dei Comuni" in Tito Scalo (Pz). "To the happiness for this release, which is also a success of the Italian government and secret services," he said, "we must add the grief for the death of a State official." "I believe," the minister said, "that we must clear up what happened. Berlusconi was right to call for the US Ambassador, because we must protect those who work for Italy in the world. We must give an example of extreme firmness. We are waiting for an explanation and we hope that if somebody is responsible for the fact, that person will be severely punished." (AGI) -

So far, it seems to be playing a bit better in Italy than it did in Japan--and, of course, in a lot of the US "mainstream" media.
There have been reports
of people getting dragged from
their cars and murdered.
Maybe the driver
believed there was an ambush
and tried to run it.
