Since I retired several months ago, I've had plenty of time to listen to talk radio and I've been able to come up with my own factors for rating some of the hosts.
It is this: Who provides depth and insight and who doesn't?
To me, those who provide depth and insight include: Rush Limbaugh Dennis Prager Michael Medved Larry Elder
Those who fall into the "No **** Sherlock / Captain Obvious to the Rescue" category include: Laura Ingraham Sean Hannity
That's my opinion. What's yours?
WPGB however does have the strong show of Wuinn &Rose, Blenn Beck, while not a household word, is creative, the one two punch of Rush & Hannity and then Savage. This is a conservtive talk dream. There was a time that in Columbus, when Rush was on a weaker station in hi early years, that station's ratings came very close to toppling WTVN's (our KDKA). Now I bet if Rush went back from TVN to that old station it would hardly be a blip. I think his ratings are now more based on the heritage stations he's on vs the ability to move large numbers of listeners like he once could.
Looks like the home team's bench is deep and the second and third stringers are ready for the Super Bowl of Issues, to say nothing of the starting line-up. Pity the visitors.
I think Rush is the best,But I look forward to Roger Hedgecock when he fills in for Rush.
AND Freeper David Gold - on KSFO on the weekends.
AND is Freeper bmw. Gave Free Republic big-time accolades from the time I started really listening in 2000, onwards. Great guy.
I forgot to put it in the title but it's in the topics (Your Opinion/Questions) so I hope that covers it. :)
The last time I heard him was YEARS ago when he subbed for Rush.
Yes.
Anyone that's wants real info instead fluff, swill, infotainment, and self promoting blowfishes check out John Stadtmiller on "Nat'l Intel Report" 4-6PM CST / M-F / www.rbnlive.com......check his show out for a week or two and you'll more than a year's worth of listening to some of these others.
Long John Nebel.
Herb Jepko and the "Nitecaps" on KSL.
Laura and Sean like being "cutesy", IMO, but neither are deep thinkers...or at least I've never heard it on their radio programs:-(

I'm surprised so many freepers like Hugh Hewitt. He isn't even conservative for crying out loud.
mean spirited??? LOL! You sound like a lib.
In my order of preference
Michael Medved
Rush
Hugh Huitt (sp?)
Laura
I'm not impressed with Hannity.
Savage is an embarrassment and I will not listen.
