There has been a lot going on with Syria lately.
They turned over Saddams brother, they have made public statements about getting out of lebannon.
I believe that Bush knows that this is where the remnant of Saddams loyalists are along with the WMD's that were in Iraq. His very stong words, along with Condi's public statements are a prelude to something.
Now Bush is stepping up the pressure. To make these public statements has to mean follow up action is imminent if visible action is not taken by Syria soon.
That Syria declared that they would "stand" with Iran in the face of an Israeli attack was probably not the smartest prounouncement they could make.
Something has got to give.

the left think we can move 150,000 troops and equipment out of Iraq in a week and a half? We can, and that's what President Bush is telling Assad.

"and they know what they need to do..." I love it when the President says this. He said it to Saddam, he's said it to Iran and now Assad.
It's ratcheting up.

I just can't imagine for the life of me where we would be if it had been 'President' John Kerry at the helm during these historic times. If it were any other president other than George W. Bush there would be no historic times. It would just be the same old, same old that it's been for the last 50 years.

"The chances of Syria withdrawing are greater than ever before," [Turkish diplomat] Logoglu told reporters. "But it is obviously going to take a long time."Obvious to whom, you yahoo? If we said "All Syrian troops and agents out of Lebanon in 2 weeks, or Damascus becomes a glass parking lot!", do you actually think Syria wouldn't be able to physically comply?
You bet your sweet ass they would!

They are waiting until GW says that it is time to take action against Syria.
Then as usual, they and the anti war gang will gather around the tyrants and try to protect them with anti war mantras, like "No Oil or War for Assad's A$$!"

Sending in a strong male figure [to replace current female ambassador to Syria] is a nice little ratcheting up of the diplomatic effort to make Syria see the light before we need to resort to military action.Bold (and reasonable, in my view) statement. Is that that really Lawrence Saunders behind those Foster-Grants?

Right. What is going on away from the public eye that would cause the leader of Lebanon to just offer to quit and end his government?
