There has been a lot going on with Syria lately.
They turned over Saddams brother, they have made public statements about getting out of lebannon.
I believe that Bush knows that this is where the remnant of Saddams loyalists are along with the WMD's that were in Iraq. His very stong words, along with Condi's public statements are a prelude to something.
Now Bush is stepping up the pressure. To make these public statements has to mean follow up action is imminent if visible action is not taken by Syria soon.
That Syria declared that they would "stand" with Iran in the face of an Israeli attack was probably not the smartest prounouncement they could make.
Something has got to give.
It's a tough call for Assad. On the one hand, if he doesn't get out of Lebanon, he'll end up like Saddam. In jail, awaiting execution. On the other hand, if he gets out of Lebanon, and continues yielding to other demands of the US and other nations, he will lose his control of his own people, and end up like the Romanian dictator.
One way, or the other, the Bush freedom wave is going to wash him out of power.
I'm not so sure they (the Syrian govt.) did. I read that it was Syrian Kurds who caught him and gave us him.
