WASHINGTON – In denouncing Republican efforts to get President Bush's judicial nominees to the floor of the Senate for an up-or-down vote, Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., compared Republican tactics to Adolph Hitler's use of power in Nazi Germany.
Byrd, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, said that if the GOP were to succeed in preventing Democratic filibusters of Bush's nominees, the move would "incinerate" the rights of all senators.
As many as 10 of Bush's nominees face the threat of filibuster, including William Myers, former lead counsel at the Interior Department who is up for a seat on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Myers has majority support in the Senate, but lacks the 60 votes needed to shatter a filibuster. To get past that barrier, Republicans would like to use their majority power to change the rules.
Byrd compared the idea to Hitler's abuse of power.
"Hitler never abandoned the cloak of legality. He recognized the enormous psychological value of having the law on his side," he said.

Any time a nominee is not given an up or down vote by the full Senate the Senate is in violation of the US Constitution. Of course half the time they pass a new law they are also violating it al well.

Oh, unlike the oh so cooperative RATs. There is a reason these foaming malcontents are in the minority. Apparently, they think that being a minority means that you have more rights and power than everybody else, whether you are racial, sexual or Senate minority. KKK Byrd once again calling the kettle black so to speak. Someone needs to tell the sheeted one that advise and consent has always meant every judicial nominee that was approved by the judiciary committee always received a full senate vote when a simple majority was for the nominee. This all started after President Bush was sworn in 2001.

Robert Bird didn't do so well in History Class. In fact he ought to take a look at Reconstruction and see just which party it was in the south that conspired to keep the Black population under its thumb for another 100 years following the invasion, occupation, and supression of the South during and after the Civil War, or as it is known in some circles, The War of Northern Aggression.
