Protesters wave Lebanese flags in Beirut central, Lebanon, Monday Feb. 28, 2005. In a show of mass support for the opposition in Monday's parliamentary debate, about 10,000 people defied a protest ban and demonstrated calling for Syria to withdraw its army from Lebanon.

It's too late to attack Israel....there are American Army Posts and American Air Forces Bases INSIDE of Iraq...and they won't be leaving anytime soon...they have run out of time...IMHO

I think that planning in earnest began after the liberation of Iraq. Iran's nuke program was stepped up; Bashir went to Egypt to meet with Mubarek, finalizing arrangements; Israel has been jumping through some hoops in its pursuit of peace -- not the removal of Jews from Gaza, but rather the presence of Egyptian troops up near the border; for months Russia denied it was selling the missiles to Syria that yesterday it agreed to sell. They may have been caught flatfooted by the ease with which Saddam's gov't was smashed, and disappointed that the Iraqi elections took place on schedule (Mubarek wanted to delay, what a *coincidence*).

The terrorist organizations must have an inkling that the attack is coming, but won't be let in on the reality until the tanks roll.

But I agree, there's no longer enough time -- only because Syria's regime will be toppled before the attack can be launched. Hizbollah will be forced out of Lebanon, although the Lebanese gov't to come will probably let them save face.

"I question the timing of this announcement."

Yes, but how are women and minorities impacted by this?

If there is a coup in Syria, it will only be the people who are really running the country -- i.e., the terrorists -- coming out into the sunshine.

You can bet your house they are moving them as you and I type.

Hope we get good overheads.

This is a reminder to me that a good portion of the war is being fought in places and ways that we don't know about and perhaps never will.

We need to pray more for our Special Forces.

Well its not negative - just a lot of inaccuracies fueld by overenthusiasims - this happens in parl. systems all the time - also by law the PM's position has to be a Sunni Muslim - the President - Syria's man - has to be a Christian, etc.

***Wow. First the Taliban, then Saddam, then Libya, then Yassir That's My Baby. Now, Assad is feeling the heat.

These are historic times.***

IF ONLY, If only we here on FR could start writing the history book, we could tell it like is IS, and not depend on liberal/socialist "historians" to get it right. I would like to line up my grandchildren right now and tell them what wonderful things a conservative president is doing. Too bad they're all out of state.

I've been thinking you can generally sum up a Presidency in one line or less:

Ronald Reagan: "Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down This Wall!"

George H.W. Bush: "Read My Lips, No New Taxes"

George W. Bush: "We Will Not Falter, And We Will Not Fail... You Are Either With Us, Or With The Terrorists."

William Jefferson Clinton: " I... Did... Not... Have... Sex... With... That Woman... Miss Lewinski"
