Yes, the show trials are quite disgusting. And the coverage the media gives them makes us look like a country of low-thinking idiots.
Do you know anybody who's interested and keeping up with the Jackson trial? I don't, and I only know what I know about the blasted circus because I'm forced to hear it when I'm listening for real news on tv. I certainly don't seek out the topic, and I'd be ecstatic if it wasn't carried on tv at all.
I stopped being interested in cable news directly after the election. It seems more and more they hype things that I don't think are that important.
On Fox News this morning, I saw more coverage of the Oscars (which hadn't even taken place yet!) than of things that ARE newsworthy, like the war...
As for the Oscars, I would rather watch water boil...at least boiling water can serve a purpose.
I have to believe if Swann ran seriously, he'd win pretty comfortably. He's a huge sports hero, especially in PA.
I always wonder what's in the President's glass at these toasts. I believe he does not drink alcohol. Is it water? Anyone know?
You and the others who take on this task daily have the undying gratitude of the rest of us. There's a reason this thread was nicknamed the Dose so quickly ... it sure is balm to soothe the soul ... :-)
That was a good program I actually quite like William Hague
Got to be water...or 7UP maybe?
I don't know, but it could be ginger ale for color and fizz that's similar to champagne. Could also be apple juice or white grape juice. Something along those lines.
Oh I so know what you mean. It is not possible for me to be any less interested in the Hollyweirds or their "awards". Not possible, period.
But the weekend Fox crew was all over it. And tomorrow they will be all over the winners too. rolling eyes...
You are so very welcome, kayak. Your words are so true. Doing the weekend Dose threads is very soothing and relaxing for me. I get a kick out of it when everyone else gets a kick out of it.
I can't take the celebrity worship...
I think I'm like a lot of folks, I just check in at the top of the hour to make sure the whole world isn't on fire, and then I move on with my life!
They must get good ratings when they go on and on about this stuff, though, or they wouldn't be producing it. Which begs the question--who is watching it?
Thanks, STARWISE. I'll check out the video for sure. Also have to say goodnight, now, since it's 20 to 7:00 here and time to get dinner.
It will be the same on British TV tomorrow as well.
Good night Wolfie give Annebelle a kiss and a pat from me.
Was flipping stations, just in time to hear Chris Rock say he wasn't going to bash Bush and then he proceeded to bash Bush.....in a sarcastic way. Click...next station. IMHO, they're all losers.
prairie, I, too, saw Col. Hunt and Bob Bevelacqua (whom I LOVE!)with Geraldo. I laughed out loud when Col Hunt called that guy and idiot. Can always count on honesty from Hunt and Bevelacqua. Bevelacqua is one tough cookie.
LOL, yup! Sometimes it's more productive to mute the sound and just read the crawler at the bottom. They often crawl information that they never or barely talk about, sometimes you can get some interesting stuff off that.
Snugs, I'm always astounded to learn what captures British interest about America. Or, is it that your media is just following the hype and not all that many Brits actually care who wins the Oscars, but are force-fed it by your media?
