TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) -- Animal rights activists are disgusted by a new candy from Kraft Foods Inc. that's shaped like critters run over by cars -- complete with tire treads.
The fruity-flavored Trolli Road Kill Gummi Candy -- in shapes of partly flattened snakes, chickens and squirrels -- fosters cruelty toward animals, according to the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
"It sends the wrong message to children, that it's OK to harm animals. And that's the wrong message, especially from a so-called wholesome corporation like Kraft," said society spokesman Matthew Stanton.
The society is considering petition drives, boycotts and letter-writing campaigns to get the candy pulled from the market, Stanton said.

I want some ! :)
I know it's bad but if it angers PETA i want it! How about they just sell it to adults, then kids don't have to eat it. ;)
Actually it sends a message to animals to stay out of the road.
Unbelievable. These people need to get a life or better yet, just end it all.
Think of all the maggots that could benefit. ;)
Give me a break! I bet these are perfectly reasonable adults that still wear pull-ups to bed and live with their mama. I'm going to order a crate and give them away in gift baskets. Road kill Easter chicks, what a great idea!
Where do I get some?
You have to see this.
I don't like the idea of these candies----sorry!
Is that a dehorned Jackalope?
I'd buy some in a minute! What would be really cool is to see some roadkill PETA heads, complete with tire treads!
Better yet, where can I find candy in the shape of a PETA activist with a tire tread on it?
Cougar. Female. About 110 lbs. Central CA a couple years ago. Jumped right in front of me, I was doing about 65 at the time.
It's ok , you don't have to buy'm, I can have more for me, me,me,me,me ;)
I used to tell my three sons when they were younger,
"See that dead animal in the road? Know what happened to him? He did not look both ways before he crossed the street".
But I bet these people have no problem with abortion. Candy in the shape of pretend dead animals is bad. Killing of actual human babies is good. These people are mentally ill.
I should think normal people would be turned off by this too. What an idiotic, boneheaded thing to peddle to impressionable children. Animals who are hit by cars is nothing to make light of. I speak as someone whose favorite dog as a child was hit by a car. As children, we are taught kindness through animals. We are taught how to grieve through losing household pets. We are taught that life, all life, is precious. "Roadkill candy" is the kind of thing only a deranged mind would think up.
Geez. kids see real road kill. Does that make them cruel to animals?
The animal rights kooks would get a nose bleed if they entered my house.
That's one of the coolest Roadkill pics i've seen. I've never seen anyone pose with roadkill before :)
I always see about 3 or 4 dead deer on my way home on a good day of deer bumper hunting. I am starting to be able to tell which get hit at fast speed vs slow speed vehicle, but watchout OJ, the Big semis leave a bigger mess than you did, but it's just a deer.
Just read that they've been pulled----You won't be able to buy them anymore.
