Senator Susan Collins of Maine alerts the enemy to US Troop movements.

GREATER OXFORD HILLS - Oxford Hills families of 133d Engineer Guardsmen are thrilled and appalled.
The are thrilled, of course, because their soldiers are coming home. But many families here are disturbed and upset that Senator Susan Collins announced Monday on national television specifically which days the unit would be in the air, even specifying that the first group would fly "Wednesday afternoon."
A spokesperson from the senator's press office, however, said that Senator Collins had been given the information by U. S. military officials and had permission to make the details public. This has done little to calm the uneasiness that the disclosure caused.
One Oxford Hills father who has a child in the unit even indicated that some of the 133d troops weren't happy about the public announcement, either. "There is a little crankiness about that [Collins' telling the flight dates] from the troops over there. There is such a thing as operational security. So I have heard a little flack [from our soldiers] about it," the dad said.
On Tuesday, another Oxford Hills man who, also, has a child serving with the 133d was angry about the broadcasting of the travel plans. "Maybe she [Collins] should just ask for the insurgents e-mail addresses and sent them out an itinerary. Our [child] is still sitting in Mosul and it was a little unnerving to think that Collins is giving out dates and times. It's bad enough getting out of there as it is. If the Air Force thinks that word is out as far as planes going [to and from] Mosul, they cancel flights. So I hope my [child's] flight wasn't canceled because of Collins," he said...

Much ado about nothing. The information was apparently free for the asking; if there's a security lapse, it's on the military's part, not Collins's.
Hey! That is not right and you know it. Margaret Thatcher was not weak. I am sure President Reagan would have a word to say about that to you.
Just because one woman makes a stupid mistake does not mean every woman would. Also, it does not mean she would make this type of mistake all of the time. I don't know this woman, so I can't say.
But don't tar all women with the same brush. Should we tar all men with the same brush we would use on John Kerry or Ted Kennedy?
Do you hear yourself???? You talk like the Taliban or the Muslims. Look at all the men Senators who try and hurt this country. I don't hear people saying, men in leadership roles is a weak link in the chain of our society. Your asinine comment astounds me.
Blood pressure lowered. Here's how it should have read.
"Having women in leadership roles is a weak link in the chain of our society, unless they're leading women only."
This is a false statement. If you are coming at this from a Christian perspective, you need to read the Bible more closely. Proverbs 31 is very clear that the woman described is active in the community and leadership.
YOu are right, but, try to remember, the Republican parties senior in Maine is Olympia, the queen of infanticide, Snowe and the d's are led by one even worse , if that is possible, John Baldacci.

"No 0-6 or below is going to tell a US Senator that they can not repeat something, she is a US Senator. Any US Senator, even a rino like COllins can destroy a career with a phone call."
True. However, it's still bad opsec and one of her colleagues in the Senate needs to have a word or two with the good Senator.
"Why, yes... I believe I was," replied edskid.
When in doubt, proceed on the side of caution; when not in doubt, proceed on the side of caution. At least she didn't tell the world about the unit's achilles' heels while they were deployed, unlike at least one other member of the senate.
women leading women.
Loose lips sink ships, Senator.
I believe Susan Collins was a staffer for Bill Cohen.
She speaks as if she's had a stroke.

Unless they're ex Swiftees or POW's who dare to forget their proper place!
This has done little to calm the uneasiness that the disclosure caused.
Typical blabbermouth who feels the need to ingratiate herself as well as her position in an effort to solidify, her being a female and all, her precarious office in the august body of Senate blabbermouths.
