For the freedom you enjoyed yesterday...
Thank the Veterans
who served in the United States Armed Forces.
Good morning Troops!
Themeless Thursday Feb. 24, 2005!
We're in the clouds today!
Clouds are interesting!! There are many kinds of clouds.
Behind this cartoon cloud are Lenticular Clouds.
Some of us are in the clouds most of the time. I'm sure writer 33 would attest to that as fact. Of course, he would be thinking about the Queen of no Theme, bentfeather.
Many of our FReepers are pilots, they love being in the clouds.
On this day... Operation Desert Storm Ground Campaign Began (1991).
Learning more about clouds.

It's just now 7am here and I'm getting my act together for the day. I only get the #s by stumbling over them. Y'all have a 4 hour head start and I'll be lucky to catch up by the time I go to bed. LOL!!

I have been asked to see if I can help get some attention to this cause. Please read and act as you feel is proper.
Perhaps Yatch Man you might consider a ping for this subject.
Good luck with this Steve.
OUR FIGHT FOR A SERVICE FLAG FOR OUR WOUNDED
As I am sure most of you know there has been a flag for mothers with children serving in the military since World War I. A great organization, called the Blue Star Mothers has developed around this flag. Part of the Blue Star Mothers is a group called the Gold Star Mothers who have lost their children in war. So there is a flag for our children serving and a flag for our honored dead.
What is not so well know is that many years ago there was a flag to honor our wounded soldiers. It has faded into the mist of time and is no longer in wide spread use. Our fight is to re-introduce a flag to honor our wounded. We call this new banner the Silver Star Flag. (We also support letting grandparents fly the Service Banner.)
This is a grassroots effort to honor the men and women of our armed forces, and their families, who have given up so much for their country. I would urge everyone to learn more of the history of the Service Flag and to read the law as it is now written by going to: http://home.att.net/~steven.newton1/serviceflag.html
If you find that you agree we need a Flag for our wounded you can go here and sign a petition that will be delivered to the Secretary of Defense: http://www.petitiononline.com/12251952/petition.html
It is past time for us to honor our wounded. The time to act is now. Help us in our quest for the Silver Star Flag.
Chief Steven J. Newton (ret)
