A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....02-23-05....Another Finest Play Day

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Being 8 Years Old Again

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

  • I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
  • I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
  • I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
  • I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
  • I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
  • I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
  • I want to believe that anything is possible.
  • I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
  • I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
  • I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...

"Tag! You're it!"

and have a wonderful Wednesday!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Very true. :-)

You are a hero, Mayor! And by the time you and your supporters get through with those guys, you will be a hero in Erie county too, if not already. Sometimes change is a hard thing to take, but change for the good has got to be a positive move!

Oh, Gabz! Sorry you met nasty people on FR! I just hate it when someone goes off on me, and I didn't even say anything to deserve that kind of treatment. You would only expect that kind of treatment in the DUmpster! Well, you are among friends here!

I think your problem is, you don't have them in your WINDOWS font folder. That's where they need to be. When you locate your WINDOWS font folder and open it, you will find fonts already in there. Just copy the fonts you downloaded and paste them into that folder. That's all there is to it. :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you..........One of the "nicer" things I was told to do was go back to DU where I belonged.

Yes, I'm a bit agitated, to say the least.

Aren't you the dearest person........Oh big HUGS to you for that.

I really need to go to bed.........her little majesty is NOT going to school tomorrow, no matter what she says and the last words I expressed to hubby were about him calling out sick and staying in bed all day.

Geez! I hope I don't happen onto that thread! Some people just get off on being hateful. Maybe you should have reported them as abusive to the Mod! I can't imagine that this kind of behavior would be sanctioned by Jim!

I'm not a believer in hitting the abuse button, as I know we all have our moments and can say a thing or two that we shouldn't.

Other than hitting it on myself to ask for mulitple posts to be deleted, I had only hit the abuse button 3 times in all my time here - I made it 4 tonight.......and it's killing me, because I hate doing it.

You both are a pleasant respite in what had been a bit of angst for me.

One of the moderators pulling a particularly offensive post and then admonishing the poster also helped, I will admit....
