'Live' being the operative word. Soccer is deadly boring to most Americans, some of whom even understand the game.
Round of 16, first leg
22 February 2005
Bayern 20:45 Arsenal
Liverpool 20:45 Leverkusen
PSV 20:45 Monaco
Real Madrid 20:45 Juventus
What sport is this? It doesn't say anywhere in the post.
I'd rather listen to bowling on the radio....
Small suggestion..if you can figure out a way to get the words "Stanley Cup" in your headline, you can attract all the dsconsolate hockey fans...
Auto racing is far & away the most popular sport on earth.
Personally, soccer is deadly boring viewing to me, but then I think about it, and you can make the same statement about ANY sport.
Football, baseball, hockey, basketball, auto racing... all can be described as boring to a various degree.
In fact, I've seen guys on motorcycles jumping 30 feet in the air, leaving their seats and doing handstands in mid-air, then landing safely and doing it again 5 seconds later. I think it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but one minute later I say, "meh", and change the channel.
Sports TV is only interesting nowadays if you're a die-hard team fan (NY Giants for me), or you have a wager going. Anything else, I'll catch the highlights on Sportscenter.
A soccer goalie stayed on the field for two hours after the game was called because of fog. Any sport where nothing could happen for two hours and it doesn't seem odd isn't a sport. Regardless, down with United.
And if the commercials I see on Dish Network for soccer PPVs were as interesting as the actual games, I might watch it.
Soccer sucks.
Interesting. Is Donovan even going to see any playing time?
OK, if you soccer fans are coming out of the closet, you can probably win tolerance, but don't demand acceptance. Personally I don't care what games you watch or play, but don't try to recruit my children. Soccer shouldn't be on family TV, let parents decide how they want to deal with such a sensitive subject...
I always love The Hooligan Haft-time Extravaganza! Who needs a bare breast for attention when you can start a fire in a stadium full of fans and watch all the excitement!
Hooligan Football-- The only sport where it is more exciting to watch the fans in the stands than the action on the field.
Thanks for the thread - though you have chosen two of the least attractive matchups of the round of 16 to highlight, IMO. :)
With Barcelona - Chelsea, Bayern Munich - Arsenal, Real Madrid - Juventus and my beloved Red Devils against AC Milan, there are some great matchups to be had.

Anyone know a web site where I can get a complete schedule of the matches?
BTW, the Fifa web site is outstanding for the 06 World Cup.
