A soccer goalie stayed on the field for two hours after the game was called because of fog. Any sport where nothing could happen for two hours and it doesn't seem odd isn't a sport. Regardless, down with United.

You left out *crash* between those left turns.

I am not a NASCAR fan -- I am just reminding you that MLS is an itty bitty sport in the USA and will stay that way for the forseeable future.

I'm a fan of the mighty Southend United, my cheekily labelled friend. You'll find us in the We Love CocaCola League Division Deuxieme Two Premier Drink Fanta Drink Fanta League Championship, or whatever they're calling it now.

And if the commercials I see on Dish Network for soccer PPVs were as interesting as the actual games, I might watch it.

Hammers fan myself.

We'll probably be joining you in the fizzy pops division before long.

Your mag's are in by the way ;o)

Hammers? Good Lord, no. I saw them get played off the park by the Shrimpers in October, but they scraped a 2-0 win. Pardew has them playing some truly appalling football.

I had a feeling they might be!

A kid that worked for me about fifteen years ago came up with the best sobriquet for soccer I ever heard, "commie ball".

The Russians were very good at it, it must be said. They had a chap called Lev Yashin in goal, not much went past him.

I think it's a shame that the Americans never really 'got' football. Mind you, if you had, you'd have given it 9 or 10 long breaks for all the advertising, bigger goals, scantily clad teenagers dancing on the sidelines, body armour, teamnames like the Liverpool Eagles or The Southampton Packers, fireworks, astroturf and you'd have made the whole thing last five hours.

I like it our way!*

Now it's erudite arguments like this that'll certainly change my mind!

Go to a Galaxy Game -- hardly a word of english spoken in the stands.

Or better yet, see the occasional Mexican League match played at the Los Angeles Galaxy's home stadium (Home Depot Center). Some of those Mexican League rivalries make the American college football rivalries between Florida and Florida State seem like minor events, with fights frequently breaking out. And that's just from legal immigrants from Mexico....

By the way, the AC Milan-Manchester United match this week will be televised on ESPN2 at 1430 EST (1130 PST) on Wednesday, February 23, 2005.

More people watch televised Poker than soccer in America.

I beleive the North Koreans knocked off their Italian commrads in the 1966 world cup as well. You have the typical lefty response of saying that someone who disagrees with you doesn't "get it". By the way, how many people have been killed at NFL games over the last 39 years?

Each of these 4 soccer matches will be watched by over 800 million people today. NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL matches (including the SuperBowl) pale in comparison.

Sorry, the Super Bowl is watched by several BILLION.
