Middle School Students Encouraged to Send Demoralizing Letters to Soldier

Pfc. Rob Jacobs is a soldier based ten miles from the North Korean border. His home is in New Jersey. Therefore, it was not a surprise that he was excited when he received letters from sixth-grade students at JHS 51 in Park Slope; near Prospect Park in Brooklyn. But, that was before Pfc. Jacobs opened and read the letters. Monday, David Andreatta of the New York Post reported that these letters were “strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.”

The students’ indoctrinator (AKA “teacher”), Alex Kunhardt, had encouraged them to send letters to Jacobs that were to be filled with leftist rhetoric against the Iraq war, the soldiers and President Bush. At least nine of Kunhardt’s students followed his orders. As an example, a letter from a Muslim boy included: "Even thoe [sic] you are risking your life for our country, have you seen how many civilians you or some other soldier killed?" and "I know your [sic] trying to save our country and kill the terrorists but you are also destroying holy places like Mosques." To add insult to injury, Andreatta also advised that the envelope had a ‘smiley-face’ stamped on it.

Although “indoctrinator Kunhardt” refused to return phone calls, his principal Xavier Costelli responded in an inordinately cavalier fashion when he stated: “While we would never censor anything that our children write, we sincerely apologize for forwarding letters that were in any way inappropriate to Pfc. Jacobs. This assignment was not intended to be insensitive, but to be supportive of the men and women in service to our nation." You can tell he really meant it. Sure he did.

This is merely another example of leftist “academia”, now at the lower-grade levels, indoctrinating our children into their malicious and ever-increasing sadistic philosophies. It’s one thing for the leftists to write letters and complain to government leaders but, quite another to try to demoralize our troops by using their new and improved desperate weapon…our kids. This is a new low, even for the Left. So, the next time you hear a liberal/leftist say “we hate the war but, support our troops”, remember this scenario. Then, you can fairly and accurately (and with all intended sarcasm) say: “SURE you do!”

Just a typical hilary constituent. They all think alike. They loathe the military.

New York City's local and citywide school boards were effectively dissolved in 2003. The Department of Education is run directly by Mayor Bloomberg through his appointed School Chancellor, with mostly powerless local and citywide advisory boards.

Just called and left a very detailed voice mail...I'm sure these people are not enjoying the fact that patriots are now becoming aware of what is happening on college campuses and in schools across the country. The ivory towers are under seige.

I'm still questioning how the students obtained the APO address of any soldier. It's sad but people have to be careful with whom they share information. Previous breaks in OPSEC have caused one soldier that I know to have her mail suspended after her APO address was leaked on the internet.

OUTRAGEOUS! Is treason still a crime? Is suborning anarchy punishable? Is inciting to propagandize and demoralize an authorized use of taxpayer monies? This goon is the moral equivalent of the terrorists who used the Mongoloid Iraqi boy as a suicide bomber on Election Day.

This is anti-American advocacy and activism beyond Ward Churchill, because it is using children as psychological terror weapons--in an institution where attendance is compulsory, not discretionary. Drop that fraud-teacher into a DMZ somewhere and see which side he runs to. Pinko subversive USEFUL IDIOT.

I have emailed the principal, the chancellor, and the superintendents. I personally phoned the chancellor's office. I also called (and emailed) my local congressman's office and was told I should contact the governor of the state of NY. So I just emailed Pataki! I don't know when I have been so angry!
I do hope the US soldier learns how many of us are supporting him!

Dear Sir,
I'm the wife of a U.S. Marine and the daughter of a soldier killed in the Vietnam war.

My loved ones fight for freedom of speech, and they shrug off the criticism of people like your teachers and students -- people who are ungrateful and hateful about the protection my loved ones provide them. They know it comes with the job, and they even DEFEND to me these people's right to criticize.

But I am just a civilian and I will fight against the slanderous villification of our United States Military using everything in my power, which currently is just my simple voice.

As principal of a school that allowed hateful letters filled with leftist propaganda to go out to our fine young soldiers in the field, men who are sacrificing much in order to serve our country, I'd like to request that you give equal time to OUR VOICES, the voices of military families who are hurt by the false myths that our military are anything other than defenders of freedom and the citizens of the U.S. If you truly care about free speech, you should see to it that ALL sides are discussed.

I am so tempted to vent my anger and frustration at you, but for the sake of our civilized world will leave this issue here. And oh by the way, the teacher who encouraged this type of propagandized letter writing should be forced to apologize also to the parents and students whom they force-fed liberal tactics straight out of the anti-Vietnam playbook used by the Marxist anti-war crowd a generation ago.

Sincerely,

Atlanta, Georgia

The soldier's father was on Hannity last night. A co-worker of the dad asked if his daughter's class could write holiday letters to the soldier. The dad said,"Sure, that would be great." Or similar words.

The dad has another son in the marines, a daughter married to a police officer and the soldier in the army stationed in KOREA. How many mosques are there in Korea? Hmmmmm?

The dad was going to get copies of the letters into Sean Hannity's hands today or tomorrow.

The dad was PO'd, as you can imagine. One good thing...the co-worker's daughter wrote a "lovely letter." All the letters weren't bad, just the majority.
