Middle School Students Encouraged to Send Demoralizing Letters to Soldier
Pfc. Rob Jacobs is a soldier based ten miles from the North Korean border. His home is in New Jersey. Therefore, it was not a surprise that he was excited when he received letters from sixth-grade students at JHS 51 in Park Slope; near Prospect Park in Brooklyn. But, that was before Pfc. Jacobs opened and read the letters. Monday, David Andreatta of the New York Post reported that these letters were strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.
The students indoctrinator (AKA teacher), Alex Kunhardt, had encouraged them to send letters to Jacobs that were to be filled with leftist rhetoric against the Iraq war, the soldiers and President Bush. At least nine of Kunhardts students followed his orders. As an example, a letter from a Muslim boy included: "Even thoe [sic] you are risking your life for our country, have you seen how many civilians you or some other soldier killed?" and "I know your [sic] trying to save our country and kill the terrorists but you are also destroying holy places like Mosques." To add insult to injury, Andreatta also advised that the envelope had a smiley-face stamped on it.
Although indoctrinator Kunhardt refused to return phone calls, his principal Xavier Costelli responded in an inordinately cavalier fashion when he stated: While we would never censor anything that our children write, we sincerely apologize for forwarding letters that were in any way inappropriate to Pfc. Jacobs. This assignment was not intended to be insensitive, but to be supportive of the men and women in service to our nation." You can tell he really meant it. Sure he did.
This is merely another example of leftist academia, now at the lower-grade levels, indoctrinating our children into their malicious and ever-increasing sadistic philosophies. Its one thing for the leftists to write letters and complain to government leaders but, quite another to try to demoralize our troops by using their new and improved desperate weapon
our kids. This is a new low, even for the Left. So, the next time you hear a liberal/leftist say we hate the war but, support our troops, remember this scenario. Then, you can fairly and accurately (and with all intended sarcasm) say: SURE you do!

I'll have my first grader writing a letter to Pfc Rob Jacobs this afternoon.
This 8 year Air Force vet would love to have a few minutes alone with this teacher, and school board for that matter. More than feelings would be hurt, I can assure you of that.
Bump.
I loved the dad's comment...if you've nothing positive to say, zip it!
Thanks for the ping. You know I'm here for our soldiers!

Thank you for the address..I believe I heard his dad say that his son would be home on R&R next month, so he'd be able to read them all then!
An "Alex Kundhardt" that lives less than 1/2 mile from the school

Thanks for posting that.
I don't have enough time to read through all my pings the last fews days, so forgive me if this has already been answered, but:
Has the teacher been fired yet? Have the students written apologies, or explanations for their vitriol?
I don't much care what the principal or teacher have to say for themselves. I'd like to know that they've explained to the students how wrong the initial brainwashing was.
Thank you DBR.
She mentioned in passing that the teacher used the New York Times as a source for his students information on current events.
She also said that the letters were assigned to be written to a hypothetical soldier. It was several days later that the teacher asked the kids if they wanted to send those letters to a soldier.
This teacher used those kids.
I tried to call Sean yesterday... I work In Park Slope and used to live here, too. It's 75 Square blocks of Liberal Utopia surrounded by reality. I call it the People's Republic of Park Slope.
I get dirty looks for a support thr troops ribbon, curses for a W-'04 sticker, and I don't even want to describe the reactions I got for the Swiftvets decal last year... The school itself is on 5th Ave & 2nd Street, in the Belly of the beast! If anyone wants to do a live Freep, Let me know.

In response to the NEGATIVE letters sent from school children AT YOUR SCHOOL, to service men and women, FROM OUR COUNTRY.This is perhaps one of the most disgusting "projects" I have ever heard of.
Keep in mind how protective one would be of 6th graders RECEIVING hateful letters like this, and let's remember that the "men" and "women" in the military who are reading these derogatory pieces of trash were in 6th grade themselves only a few years ago.How hateful it is to pretend to "communicate" with someone thousands of miles away from home, while really just promoting an agenda of discrimination.
Yes, discrimination:
discrimination
n 1: unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice

Would you be so supportive of the student's "right to free speech" if they were writing to any other anonymous group and "expressing themselves" in such a hurtful and hateful way.
I cannot only hope that for some 18 year old service man or woman, one of these vile letters was not the last thing they read before doing their DUTY and perhaps dying in the process.
Your complete disregard for the need to condemn this "project" is disgraceful.
You are supposed to be a leader of children and a leader of staff.Do your job.
