Judge delays Terri Schiavo's starvation
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Tuesday, February 22, 2005

After more than a decade of legal wrangling, Terri Schiavo's estranged husband was determined to remove today the feeding tube keeping her alive, but a judge responding to a last-minute motion by the brain-damaged woman's parents barred any action until after a hearing tomorrow.

Michael Schiavo, who lives with another woman with whom he has two children, would have been allowed to remove the tube because a court stay expires this afternoon.

Yesterday, however, parents Robert and Mary Schindler filed an emergency motion prompted by news the Second District Court of Appeals will release today its mandate denying them an appeal of the court's refusal to consider Terri's religious-liberty rights.

The motion asked Pinellas County Circuit Judge George Greer to rule that no further action be taken until a hearing tomorrow.

Terri Schiavo has been incapacitated since her heart stopped beating in 1990 under circumstances still unexplained. Doctors have testified she's in a "persistent vegetative state" with no hope of recovery, but the parents strongly deny that, insisting, based on expert testimony and their own experience, she can interact with people and would improve with therapy.

The Schindlers have enlisted the help of pro-life activist Randall Terry, the former head of Operation Rescue.

"If Michael Schiavo has Terri's feeding tube removed, we will respond with an avalanche of activism to save Terri from death by starvation," Terry said yesterday. "Why is Michael determined to starve this woman? Why won't he just give Terri back to her parents?"

Court documents and other information are posted on the Schindler family website.

Links to all "Terri briefs" regarding the governor's defense of Terri's Law are on the Florida Supreme Court website, public information.

Here's hoping some nurses who have taken care of Terri will appear and vouch she is not mere vegetable.

I think if it were my daughter, I would do whatever possible to get her out of the hospital, take her to my home and care for her myself. I realize it would probably take a court order and wonder why her parents don't pursue that avenue?

If Janet Reno can come into a private home under the cover of darkness, with an armed contingency, certainly an equally 'desperate' situation exists here.

All of this legal wrangling ...

A whole bunch of white collars showed up in the streets, communities, elevators and offices when the 2000 election of President Bush was threatened ... What keeps an army of determined, loving people from going up to the 5th floor (I don't know ... just a guess) and taking Terri right out the front door into a waiting ambulance?

An OJ type 'chase' would ensue and THE WORLD would be forced to hear her plight.

Father Frank Pavone visited Terri TWO WEEKS AGO.
TRANSCRIPT of the interview of Father Frank is shown here

Note the TWO new glaring bits of evidence that Terry is NOT in PVS!

FL definition of persistent vegetative state, PVS:

.

From video Terri Big Eyes; see it at www.terrisfight.org-- http://www.terrisfight.org/

Terri starts out apparently asleep. A doctor wakes her to start his tests.

Doctor: Terri. Open your eyes up...

Terri: (Startled at hearing her name. She starts moving her mouth and fluttering her eyes, like a person who is just waking up)

Doctor: Open your eyes, Terri open your eyes

Terri: (slowly at first, Terri struggles to open her eyes, then turns toward the doctor, and opens her eyes a normal amount)

Doctor: There you go, good.

Terri: (then, either to show off(?) or wanting to perform well, she leans further forward toward the doctor, looks straight at him and opens her eyes as WIDE AS SHE CAN. >> Note the WRINKLES ACROSS HER FOREHEAD caused by her also RAISING HER EYEBROWS as high as possible )

Doctor: [now obviously impressed] GOOD!! GOOD JOB! GOOD JOB YOUNG LADY! Good Job.

They have been fighting tooth-and-nail for ten or twelve years now to do just that.

Sadly, it seems like thei this headline and WND story is wrong. There seems to be no confirmation that there is any 'STAY' until Wednesday. Quite the opposite in fact. (per terrisfight.org and attorney Gibbs on Greta's show Monday night)

And blogsforterri.com says this...

They've tried, but the husband is her legal guardian. And speculation goes that he doesn't want her to get better because then she might tell the world how she ended up in this condition in the first place. It's just an awful legal mess and tragic for Terri, IMO.

I don't believe that Terri is going to get better. I have had to walk in any of these peoples shoes, but as an outsider I do not see why the husband just doesn't divorce her, and let her parents take her home and treat her. If this were my child, I hope that I would just let her go, but as she is not I would not know how I would react and neither does anyone else that hasn't been there.

I just can't fathom the husband's determination that Teri should die. He should divorce her, give her to her parents and get on with his life. There was no written document signed by Teri that she would want to die. Absent that, we have only the word of the husband who has profited from her condition. What a cold hearted bastard!

According to Fr. Rob Johansen, who has spoken to Bob Schindler, this story is false.

A hearing has indeed been scheduled for Wednesday, but no stay has been issued, so the "husband" can proceed with his murderous plan, unless someone else stops him.

Bob Schindler: "There Is NO Stay"

It's about the money: Divorced, she retains it with her parents most likely taking care of her. As a 'widower' he retains the money.... Money.... Says it all. Although, I gotta wonder about the female he's currently breeding with...

Terri's parents have tried every imaginable way to get Terry in their care. They would take her home in a heartbeat, but they have to beg Terri's husband even to be allowed to visit.

This is sick, sick, sick. The woman's got people who want to take care of her but our own idiotic judicial system, in cahoots with an unfaithful and maniacal ex-husband, has determined that it's better that she be killed. In my opinion, as soon as the husband decided he wanted her dead, he should have lost any and all say in the matter.

God, save your daughter Terri!

Considering the grotesque failure of our judicial system and the clearly wicked intent of the ex-husband, were I the family of this women, I fear I would have taken the law into my own hands long before now.

All of the warning signs are here(Clearwater,Florida) and it's a test to see if there is Hope for humankind...

The 3rd and 4th Horsemen(Plague, and Death) awaits....
