Tonight was a great night. The Reagan Banquet was a great event. I was sitting at a table with Robin Burke, Adam Doverspike, and La Shawn Barber... This was truly a night to remember. Zell Miller was to present The Swift Boat Veterans For Truth with the Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award.
Of course, the Swifties in attendance each received standing ovations when they were introduced. When Zell Miller spoke before the presentation of the award, he commended the Swifties efforts, and for having the courage to "call a lie a lie." There was a point when he speaking about Vietnam that he appeared to be choking up a bit.
When John O'Neill spoke, he began saying he didn't want to talk about Kerry, but he wanted to talk about "the real heroes," and he mentioned Zell Miller, and gave the crowd a chuckle when he said he didn't want to go on Chris Matthew's show again unless Zell was with him.
It was great to hear O'Neil credit bloggers for helping to get the Swifties' message out.
Bill Franke, who spoke after O'Neill mentioned the bloggers as well. He mentioned how he didn't really know what we were, and thought that "bloggers" sounded like a skin disease. Ultimately, he would appreciate the role us bloggers played in helping them get their message out. He showed us a few Swift Vets ads, telling us that the first ad run cost $400,000, and the calculated value of the earned media that followed was about $40 million. The third ad he showed was the ad was the one titled "They Served". The dinner guests cheered with a standing ovation.
Roy Hoffman spoke next. He was immediately emotional, and it was a moving speech. He recalled about making the decision to speak out against John Kerry. He said they felt they "had to do something" to stop him, after what he had done to all them. He described Kerry as a loose cannon who didn't obey orders, who was a headache to everyone.
I thought it was great when he mentioend that Kerry campaign manager, Mary Beth Cahill refers to them as the "discredited Swift Boat Veterans for Truth," and challenge her to to come up with one paragraph, one sentence, or one statement that was not true.
The whole event was incredible, and moving to say the least. These are men of honor who doing what they felt was right to do. Kerry betrayed his fellow veterans and the Swifties just could let him become our Commander-In-Chief.
Below you will find the audio of Zell Miller's introduction of the Swift Vets and John O'Neill's remarks:

Challenged anyone to come up with anything that has been "discredited"

Tainted media [Kerry's 'honorable' discharge?]

"Some of the public have begun to wake up but more need to do so.
Many in the media also need to wake up to what they are doing, or failing to do,
when their politics taints their work."

For those who say the GOP can't acknowledge Swift Boat Vets,
they are wrong.
Karl Rove also exposed the false testimony by Hanoi Kerry in 1971
Rove Credits Swiftvets With 'Energizing' Bush Vote (Thank You Karl Rove!)
"...Rove recalled that his uncle had done several tours of duty in Vietnam.
I've never been able to think of Colonel Verhi as somebody who would have
'raped and pillaged in a manner reminiscent of Genghis Khan,'"
a reference to Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony where he accused Vietnam veterans
of committing widespread atrocities."
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1345603/posts
Viet Nam Vet Ollie North nailed Hanoi Kerry on his false 1971 testimony.
"Kerry testified under oath before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971 that Americans in Vietnam had "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war."
Set aside the horrific and defamatory nature of these accusations and ask this: Did he witness these atrocities? Did he try to stop them? If not, was he held accountable for dereliction of duty? If he knows the perpetrators, did he ever see that they were brought to justice? If not, why?"

And FR's own Interesting Times nailed Hanoi Kerry for his lies in 1971

Now can anyone name 1 so called MAIN Stream Right Wing Media
personality
(we know Russert on tv and Imus on radio from the Left have)
that has asked,
in 2005,
these questions?
"Asked Kerry when he will sign Form 180.
(Even though President Bush signed his Form 180)
Or how could Kerry have a top secret clearance,
and access to US intelligence
WITHOUT revealing ALL his military records to the US Senate
Who in the US Senate has seen ALL of Kerry's military records?
Who, in the US Senate, gave him his top secret clearance?
Or why Kerry is still in the US Senate.
This is in violation of
U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3
http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxiv.html
Or when Kerry will set the record straight
on his false testimony in April 71"
BUT he's still attacking President Bush in '05

It is a new world. We know that, full well. The MSM (at least the brighter ones in that closed world) are beginning to realize that as well.

He handed the Swift Boat Vets for Truth the opening to right the wrongs inflicted on the world by kerry and his ilk.
CPAC ~ Swifties ~ Bump!
BTT!!!!!!
CPAC was great. On Wednesday night my group from Pittsburgh had dinner with other Freepers. We looked over at a table a few feet away and one Freeper said that looks like John O'Neill. It was and we had a chance to talk with him for a few minutes and other siftee's. He also roamed around the displays on Friday stopping at the Freeper booth. Have photos but not digital so have to get the film developed. He's a teddy bear.
I wonder how many FReepers know that FReeper jrlc
is the co-author of Unfit for Command.
Just to make mention, John O'Neill himself said on Friday, "If it weren't for Scott Swett, there would have been no Swift Vets."
That is a quote.
He is right! Thanks Scott!
